ESPN Sources: Derrick Rose completed approximate 3-hour meeting with Los Angeles Lakers. Both sides felt good about it. Deliberation time.

He's ok, but I'm fine with the deal since it'll be low risk anyway. If he starts to act up you can just cut him.

Yes. It is low risk high reward just like Rondo.

I mean I don't think he'd be a great fit and it wouldn't make sense with him and JC having the same style of play, but it's only a one year deal so *shrugs*

Trade JC for Belineli. A bench of Rose, Belineli, Deng, Kuzma, and Nance would be really nice.

Just say no. Doesn't fit the culture.

Only if he's willing to play 20 minutes off the bench. Rondo made more sense.

That was my first reaction, but after pausing to think about it, if Magic thinks that Rose would be a good addition, I'll go with his judgment. I think the team has an idea of how they want to develop the kids. If they think a rental of Rose advances the ball (pun intended), I'm all for it.

No, you don't trade JC for Marco Belinelli. I'm sorry

Yeah me too. I think it is a team effort with Magic, Rob and Luke discussing these players. Of course Magic makes the final call.

What will his mental state be when he plays 24mpg and doesn't close games? Is he going to go MIA?

I am sure his role will be defined on what is expected before he signs. It's low risk high reward. If he acts up you cut him.

I would think Rose would understand that this is his last chance to land a decent contract. If he plays well, helps the team... maybe he lands a 3 year/36 million dollar deal next year somewhere else. If he complains, pouts, causes disruption, he will be looking at another mini or worse next year.

My guess is he will be mentally motivated unless he's a complete idiot

Yes, if there's a deal in place for Clarkson + Deng + filler

There is hope for all that voted no. I did the same poll for Rondo and he ended up signing with NO.

Good point.
And @32, yea I'm sure his role will be defined - but it's just natural for a lot of declining/descending athletes to be dejected, when their career starts to go downnnnnhill
Dude went MIA, nobody has ever done that before (at least in the past 15 years)

That's pretty much where I'm at with this. A backcourt of Rose + Clarkson would make zero sense.

But if we did have a deal in place like that, why would we wait for Rose to make it happen? I would think the deal would have been done already.

What does he want with the Lakers? Doesn't he want a ring with Cleveland? I mean if he wants to play 20 minutes off the bench, then sure, I'm all for it. I'm glad the Lakers are already attracting FAs. The Lonzo effect is real.

Honestly think he goes back to Chicago. Can't the Bulls offer him more? Even a multi-year deal?

Yeah I think he goes back to Chicago. Wouldn't be surprised if he chooses the other teams though.

Depends on expectations. 1st guard off the bench? Sure. A promise of consistently more than 12 min at point? no way.
