JOHN HEARD
'HOME ALONE' DAD
DEAD AT 71

The man was very prolific and did far more than Home Alone.

I honestly didn't even know his name but Home Alone is part of my childhood and I very clearly remember him.

RIP.

He was in a lot of movies in the 80's and 90's that I remember.

Home Alone and Home Alone 2
Beaches
Big
Deceived
Awakenings
The Pelican Brief
The Milagro Beanfield War
Gladiator
Radio Flyer

I also remember him in guest starring roles on the TV shows The Sopranos and Battlestar Galactica.

In looking at his Wikipedia page, there was some interesting info in his personal life that I was not aware of. He was married to Margot Kidder (of Lois Lane fame from the Superman movies) in 1979 for just 6 days before they separated and divorced in that same year. He was involved with future Oscar winner Melissa Leo and they had a son together; Heard would later be arrested in '91 for allegedly slapping her, and found guilty of trespassing at her home as well. He also had a marriage in 2010 that only lasted for 7 months. Maybe he wasn't an easy guy to get along with.

In any case, he was a recognizable face in a lot of roles and movies/shows that I remember. RIP.
