Come on, now. Lebron is definitely a pass-first player. He just happens to also be an all-time great scorer. Do you consider Oscar Robertson to be a pass-first player? You don't need to be Jason Kidd to be considered a pass-first player. |

Apparently Larry Nance Jr. was pen pal's with a soldier in Iraq during the war. Nance must have been 9 or 10 years old. The soldier saved the letters from Larry and just posted a few on Facebook and Twitter

I couldn't find the Larry Nance Jr. thread so posting here. Cool story. _________________ Chick Hearn and Vin Scully. How lucky are we? |

And what would have been the point of having him the first place? Just so we could say we had LeBron (bleep) James for a couple years before he bounced to a real contender? We got slaughtered by the monstrosity in GS, but at least we had LeBron for a couple years. So cool.
He shows no loyalty to the teams he signs with. He won in Cleveland and Miami and what the hell does he want to come here for? Why not stay in Cleveland?
I don't want a mercenary that doesn't give a damn about the franchise or city. |
Cmon man. The Lakers tried to trade Pau and Lamar less than two years after winning a title. Were you upset then? How about when we traded Shaq who led us to 3 rings? The idea that Lebron is a mercenary seems silly and naive. |

Laker fans were ecstatic when we pulled off the moves for Nash and Dwight Howard. We had been jilted by the nixed CP3 trade fiasco and the thinking was that we had recovered by getting the league's best center and an aging, though still-very-good, point guard with savvy, and keep in mind that the Lakers' point guard situation at that time was very weak. We were the betting favorite in Las Vegas to win the championship.
Steve Nash and Dwight Howard had not played a single game for the Lakers. While there may have been a vocal minority against those moves, the vast majority of fans were gleeful. I remember that July 4th very well, and when word broke of Nash's signing, the mood was joyous.
How is it any different if we got LeBron? I welcome any move that helps us get demonstrably better, especially if it doesn't gut the young core. And I would remind people that LeBron would be choosing to be a Los Angeles Laker. Nobody would be forcing him to do that. I have some issues with some of the stuff off-the-court that he brings, but what he brings on the court outweighs that significantly. In terms of LeBron the player, he's an unselfish player who would fit in perfectly. |
You articulated your thoughts very well and I agree 100%. |
I agree as well. LeBron should be the final piece, not the centerpiece. |

I'd rather have Ingram than Kyrie.
He's cheaper
He's taller
There's more potential
Kyrie is a a small, me first point guard, albeit a good one, but not particularly unique in his skill set. |

His skill set is pretty unique. Just because he's a score first point doesn't mean he doesn't have an elite and unique skill set. He's the best ISO scorer in the NBA by a mile. Better than westy, Lebron, KD, etc. If you absolutely have to have a bucket, Kyrie is prolly the one you'd want. Being the best 1 on 1 scorer in the world is pretty unique. |

How is it a pass first never avg 10 ast? Stop it! With his usage rate he should agh 11ast. Kidd not only did he get assist but he moved the ball without it leading directly to an assist. Lebron pounds the rock. Dribble dribble drive pass. Y'all confusing assist with being pass first. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

I haven't heard anything serious about the Lakers and Kyrie...but its fun to talk about.
He's only 25 and averaged 25/3/6 on 47/40/91 shooting...thats pretty damn good. Furthermore his contract is reasonable by today's standards:
2017-18: 18.9 million
2018-19: 20.1 million
2019-20: 21.3 million (player option)
Trading for him would be cheaper than signing one of the big name free agents next summer.
That being said, I dunno where he'd play, how he'd fit, or what we'd have to give up. Its summer so all we have to do is speculate. |

The numbers suggest that to be true in a very general way.

I'm 100% certain it would be more fun than the lottery. Objectively I can't see a real downside to Lebron coming. It would be really nice if the young guys could learn how to win form someone who could actually contribute on a night in night out basis instead of a handful of geezers with no tread left on their tires. If there's even a miniscule chance of getting Lebron the Lakers would be doing themselves a grave disservice to pass on him. |

That said only five active players are ahead of him for assists per game and not a single forward in NBA gets more assists per game. Hell, the only other non guard in the top fifty is Larry Bird at #42 while Lebron is #25. Speaking of guys who like to pound the rock look #3 & #9.

LeBron is currently 12th all time in career assists. He will likely finish #8. This is the list of guys who will finish higher in career assists.
John Stockton
Jason Kidd
Steve Nash
Mark Jackson
Magic Johnson
Oscar Robertson
Chris Paul _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |
