Blue Clutch in Lakers’ Summer Win Over Kings
Quote: | With the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League team hampered by injuries, Vander Blue took Monday night as an opportunity to show why he is the reigning NBA G League MVP.
Blue dropped a team-best 21 points, 10 of which came in a wild fourth quarter that came down to the final minute of L.A.’s 95-92 win over Sacramento.
When the Kings rallied from a 28-point deficit, Blue broke a 79-79 tie with four minutes remaining on one of his three 3-pointers of the night. In the final two minutes, he added a long jumper and another triple to help keep Sacramento at bay. |

Joey Buss details his plans for Thomas Bryant and the South Bay Lakers at Las Vegas Summer League
"He also spoke about the team’s new training facility, what types of players they want to target and how important it is to play like their parent team."
Quote: | Lakers co-owner and South Bay Lakers president Joey Buss says fan response to the name change has been "overwhelmingly positive” and that the team is “really excited to bring the two brands closer together” because “at the UCLA training facility they'll both be under one roof.”
The re-brand it isn’t the only thing the parent and affiliate organizations are excited about.
"Our minor league team will have access to the best NBA facility in the league,” Buss said after several candidates for the South Bay Lakers’ roster like Alex Caruso and Vander Blue shined in the Lakers’ 95-92 victory over the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas Summer League. “That's going to be a huge competitive advantage for us at the minor league and also at the NBA level." |

Who Are the South Bay Lakers?
Quote: | The South Bay Lakers might have a new name, but the team itself has been an expanding part of the organization for more than a decade.
Renamed after their Los Angeles region that includes their El Segundo stomping grounds, the South Bay Lakers are looking to continue increasing the standard of NBA affiliate teams. |

TB will play plenty in the G-League in order to hone his skills.
Hopefully he will be everything Upshaw was NOT.

per HoopRumors.com Quote: | The G League is hoping to eliminate a buyout loophole by requiring anyone who gets waived to remain in the player pool for 14 days before being released from their contract, writes Adam Johnson of 2 Ways & 10 Days. In the past, overseas teams have been able to avoid $40K or $50K buyouts as teams would release players as a gesture of goodwill when they received offers. Johnson says the new rule amounts to a no-compete clause, which is illegal in some states. |
