This team as currently constructed is already better than last years team before they play one regular season game, but the mystery is....can they break the four year playoff drought

Nope.

Yes, the team did get better, but so did the western conference as a whole.

There is the fact that we dont know what level of impact Ball will have on the league but Im betting it will be enough to squeze us into playoffs

You said can, not will... so I answered accordingly.

But that aside, I think we have a decent chance if Ball is what we think he is. We would have had a lot higher odds if we signed Rondo instead of letting him go to one of our direct rivals for the spot.

8th will be difficult, but why not?

Likely in the 8-11th seed pocket hopefully.

West is pretty tough and we're really relying on a rookie...no matter how good he is, he's still a rookie. Also relying heavily on a lot of 2nd and 3rd year players.

Then you just look at the West, it's full of good teams.

I think we'll improve considerably over last season and be competitive but still fall short somewhere 9th-11th best record in the west.

This is one of those conflicted "heart" vs "mind" choices.

Going with my heart. Yes to the 8th seed!

the sure shots in the west are
spurs
thunder
rockets
warriors
wolves
blazers?

that leaves two spots.
nuggets
clippers
pelicans
jazz?

those teams are all better than us. we'll be lucky if we finish 10th

Good chance Blake and Gallinari punch each other and simultaneously break their hands.

I'm not convinced with the Boogie/AD pairing and think it may come to a close sooner rather than later.

Utah is solid, but they just lost Hayward and Hill and will have to regroup.

It all depends on Lonzo and Ingram. We know that Brook/KCP are solid.

Just don't see it, but I'll be happy if they get to 35+ and are an SOB pain in the ass team to play against. Please no more embarrassing blowouts.

Warriors
Rockets
Thunder
Spurs
Wolves
Pelicans
Blazers

Teams fighting for the last spot:
Nuggets
Clippers
Jazz
Lakers

Ultimately i think the Nuggets get the last spot ( If they put shooters around Mudiay i think he can thrive, also cant forget about Jokic) Lakers will finish 2 games behind. Unless; Bi averages 16, KCP 18, Randle 20, and Lopez 2. 8th spot fosho

We are better then the:

Jazz
Clippers
Blazers
Nuggets

We will have 2 MIP candidates in Ingram and KCP who both might end up going bonkers next year, we will have a starting C looking to prove that the Nets made the wrong decision and we will have a PG who will look to show his Impact.

Come on folks, this team can end up anywhere from 35 wins to 50 wins.

There is so many things going our way right now that other teams in the WC don't have.

because we likely will not be able to score more points than the other team 50 times.

Not many teams improve by twenty wins in a single season, so since that's pretty much what it would take for the Lakers to become an eighth seed, our chances look fairly poor to see it happen.

Instead, I see a 35 win season: a five game improvement stemming from Lonzo Ball and Ingram being here, and maybe five more wins coming from other player improvements. I'm going to say the defense will probably not improve much in year one, that is with Lonzo a rook, JC and KCP as the other main guards; it just doesn't set up pretty.

Once you get to 35 wins IMO it's just as easy to speculate another 5 games due to improved team chemistry and a second year of Walton's system and experience.

That's 41 games and a high probability of the 8th seed.

I'll be optimistic and consider it possible. Not betting the house but let's see how the season goes.

Some people don't actually realize it but the KCP signing was HUGE, we haven't had a real lock down defender since Cooper, Artest and Ariza were good D guys but KCP is a whole different animal.

KCP D now is better then Rons, actually Artest had a huge fall off defensively once he left Indiana.... We finally have a guy who can lock down players when we are trying to win down the stretch.

We just need to see the team come together and the ride is gonna be EXCITING.

Is "Dont no" an affirmative of "Yes"?
As in, you better not choose no!

I'm glad the fans are showing out with the Yeses! Woo woo!
