If the Lakers were in some way able to unload deng, clarkson and randle this season and then get george + lebron to sign; in addition to somehow re-signing KCP and lopez next offseason, do we become an immediate powerhouse in the NBA?

Ball
KCP
George
Lebron
Lopez

Ennis
Hart
Ingram
Nance/Kuzma
Zubac/Bryant

WE should keep randle somehow... we need someone to defend against Draymond green

Walk us through the salary numbers to illustrate how everything would be done per the CBA and also be acceptable to the players and their agents.

I said hypothetical and emphasized "somehow" -- so, numbers aside...just wondering what ya'll think of that team talent wise as constructed.

Randle doesn't quite strike me as someone who is committed to defense...dude can't even set a normal pick to save his life, for starters.

He couldn't set a pick under Byron he improved under Luke

I don't know man...I recall multiple times even last season cringing every time he set a soft slip screen. Even I set more solid picks in pick up games at the gym.

I wonder how many of the screens fans consider bad screens actually slip screens.

Yes it is a championship contender. By all means.

Would hate to loose Randle though. He has been a decent player for the Lakers and does not deserve to be treated like fodder.
For Deng you can say what you want until he proves otherwise.

It's popular to dislike Lakers players even amongst some of our own

Ball
KCP
George
Lebron
Lopez

Vs.

Steph
Klay
KD
Green
Zaza

If Ball is an all-star by 20 than yeah it goes 7 games but if not than they would be a sizable underdog.

Lebron can defend against Green. And if Green played small ball 5, Lebron is still better than him. The problem becomes who defends the Green/Durant combo? Especially when Durant slides the the 5. He was a beast in the Finals at the 5.

The payroll will go up to GSW and Cavs size.

But how they did it they signed those who cannot go over the cap first.

Then they signed the others to go way over the cap.

Only the good FOs know this. But Magic and Rob, esp Rob should know the ropes.

any team with LeBron is already a strong playoff team at worst.

LeBron + PG + Lopez + KCP + Lonzo + Ingram + Kuzma is a legit contender. 2nd best in the west.

Slipping a screen and then not rolling anywhere is still a bad screen. Set a solid screen or slip it and challenge the defense.

I would start Ingram. I think he's a solid lock for a 20/5/5 season in year #3, assuming he avgs 18/5/4 this year.

PG: Lonzo Ball
SG: Paul George
SF: Brandon Ingram
PF: LeBron James
C: Brook Lopez

Bench: Ennis, KCP, Kuzma, Nance, Zubac

Yes, even though LeBron will be 34 years old to start the season, This team is a lock for the WCF against Warriors in 2018-2019 season. And 2020 is the year we will be the favorites to win it all. Ball/Ingram/PG all in their primes. LBJ still a solid 35 year old player and Lopez is still in his early 30's. Kuzma would be the 6th man instead of KCP.

It is probably better to have KCP over Randle in this scenario. Too over loaded up front.
