33 is a reasonable projection +/- 3 based on how much the defense improves. If it's still that bad, they will struggle to get to 30 wins. If the defense is much improved, 35+ is realistic.

Nice. ESPN has been somewhat accurate on its Lakers predictions as of late. I think if everyone is firing, we can be a 32-35 win team.

No way Utah and NOLA is gonna win that many.

Sixers also gonna win more than what they projected.

So I call it BS as in BSPN.

How ridiculously lopsided are the conferences! 35 wins predicted for the 8th seed in the East.

They have been way to accurate the past few years on the Lakers. But I am going to remain optimistic the Lakers will outperform the prediction and surpass the 35 win threshold.

Way too much to expect a playoff spot but why not root for the best!

Going to be interesting to see how the chemistry develops on the court. And just as importantly how the FO approaches the next few months. There is a mental or motivation factor that could come in to play in determining how the Lakers team meshes and the wins/losses.

Will Magic be behind this team this season? Or will rumors of trades and moves to free up cap for next year linger all season long? If a trade actually occurs is it done to improve the team or simply a wasted roster spot "for next year".

Ownership and FO needs to give the team a reason to believe, buy -in and play together. That improvement will lead to a few more wins. If the culture is all about 2018 the players will play like it. For themselves and the next team or next contract.

There is no other team hungrier than us, that's for sure.

The total win projection in a vacuum isn't as important as the projection that there will be 8 teams worse than the Lakers next season. That's a pretty good leap up the rankings.

I'm thinking a win total in the high 30s, but I can see ESPN being close to correct, too.

Not to mention lower the value of that pick we have to give up to Boston or Philly.

I hope we show more than just a mere 7-game improvement over last year. A better center, an arguably better point guard, a better SG, AND anticipated improvement from Ingram should be worth more than 7 games, right?

I'm hoping for 40, but I think 36 wins - a 10-game increase - should be a realistic target.

It's tough to guess b/c while we upgraded with Brook/KCP, we are putting a lot of hopes on 2 19 year olds (Lonzo/Ingram). While they dominated SPL play, who knows how they adjust to actual NBA Play.

We don't have anyone who can replicate what Lou Will and Young did early in the season last year. Their shooting was off the charts and Lou was getting to the line at a crazy rate. We got significantly younger, so I think a 7 game improvement is actually pretty good.
