FYI, they predicted 25 last year and we won 26. They predicted 27 two years ago and we won 17.

I also hope we don't gift Boston with a top-5 pick next summer.

Probably in the ballpark, but there are so many variables in play this year. We've got 3/5 new starting lineup with Ball, KCP and Lopez. Both Ball and Lopez distort our offense significantly from last year. Ingram may look like an entirely different player it seems. No one knows whether Kuzma might be really lottery talent. Can't wait to find out how it all comes together.

Randle was out for the whole 2015 season and last year was a unfortunate situation had we win most of the games we should have won ESPN prediction would have been off by a mile, I mean I can take there predictions seriously but when I see them ranking the Clippers and Utah so high I just laugh and don't take them serious.

people can bash ESPN all they want. they usually are right about the # of wins we get.

with that said, i think we'll surprise some people and win 40-45 games and get an 8 seed and get swept in the first round by GSW.

I try not to be so high about a player that still has to play his first NBA game, but I'm glad I'm not the only one with really high expectations about Kuzma. When I told he was looking like Larry Bird that was exactly what I meant, of course taking into account his age, experience and the level of competition. Except by a few missed cheapies around the basket I think the kid looked great.

Larry Bird is an assassin though.

Kuzma plays like an altar boy. He's gonna play a vital role as a spark off the bench with his shooting but he has to develop a bulldog attitude on defense.

We can also end up winning 45-50 wins, so if 36 wins is likely then so is 50

So 70 wins is equally as likely? Your logic makes no sense. This isn't left up to chance. Skill wins out over 82 games

Jazz should regress...a lot.

They lost their top scorers in Hill and Hayward.

Rubio will not elevate them.

Agreed but wolves got better, as did the nuggets. Okc and Houston were already better than us.

We will have to rely a lot on a rookie and a second year player in a deep west, not gonna be easy at all.

I was pointing out the espn article.

They are projecting Jazz to be better than us. Why, coz of Gobert?

We'll own them. Bet on it.

ESPN got lucky AF last year in only missing by 1 game. Imagine that Laker squad with only average injuries instead of a huge injury plague, followed by trying to win games and playing a vet/rookie mix instead of going all-rookie 'development' mode (aka tanking,) and how many more wins would the Lakers have earned? I'm guessing about 7 more, perhaps more.

This year's team is a bit better than last year's team and there's no incentive to tank. We lost Williams but we have Lopez. We lost Young but we have KCP. We lost DLO but we have Ball. And Kuzma. I think 35 is a reasonable guess. If a rookie Lonzo Ball is indeed a better PG than 2nd year DLO, and after summer league I'm inclined to believe he might be, then 40 isn't an unreasonable guess.

Of course, I say this every year and ESPN has beaten my prediction every time. Lucky bastards. Curse you Pelton. A pox on you ESPN.

Amen to that it was really difficult talking to my wife about losing to get better but when we got ball she understood finally.
It will be nice to have all the Laker fam on the same page over here. 3 years of craziness got everyone on edge! Felt bi polar at times when we would win one -tho i was a firm Tank supporter.
The west is big league and we need to feast on the east and win our home games against the west if we do that we can break even if
1- ball ave near triple dub
2- BI acts like he one of the best players
3- our vets step up brook 20/9, kcp 20 4 4
4- break out year for any of these " Nance Randle Clarkson Kuz"

They're still going to have one of the top defenses in the league.

And the plain fact is that we did not and they nailed it.

ESPN has been frightfully accurate in predicting Lakers last seasons.

Nice. ESPN has been somewhat accurate on its Lakers predictions as of late. I think if everyone is firing, we can be a 32-35 win team.

I think they got lucky with the ~26 win prediction. If we don't have that big rash of injuries after 20 games we win more than 30.

Assuming we don't have the same rash of injuries this year, 36-40 wins.

That's a +7 from ~32 wins (which we should have had last year)

Sure. But injuries are part of the game, and though ESPN didn't factor that as a primary reason.

Drinking the Kool aid and hoping for 41 wins and a squeeze
into 8th playoff spot.

Utah will not be as good. Clippers lost CP.

There are three news starters. Lopez and KCP a step up.
Lonzo will create excitement. But he will learning.
Depends on bench development also.

When he learns the trade and Paul George comes in it
is fun city.
