Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was signed by the team after his agent, Rich Paul, reached out to the team.

Quote:
Los Angeles Lakers rumors have quieted down recently. With July coming to an end, free agency is winding down. July saw plenty of player movement in the NBA, as there are a number of new players that will have new addresses.

He's almost the perfect guard to play next to Lonzo. The way he runs the floor he should get 3-4 easy buckets a game with Zo.

i feel the same way with the lonzo and lopez 2 man game. lopez is gonna look like a stud out there even if hes the last guy trailing on a fast break

He's a good fit but not a perfect fit. He doesn't cut a lot. Ideally lonzo's backcourt mate is cutting to the hoop as often as he can, backdoor or off screens

Yep. On the defensive end Pope will help alleviate the need for Ball to play the elite guards of the league, and on the offensive end Ball will be getting guys like Pope great looks, and literally having a ball playing with all of his toys.

I think that something that Lonzo is great at actually and his ideal backcourt mate would be able to make the right passes off that kind of situation.

Luckily KCP is a very underrated passer.

IMO that is where Josh Hart will eventually excel (cutting to the hoop).

It's should be a good fit on both ends of the court. KCP will make a huge impact defensively, particularly on the wing when paired w/ Brandon Ingram. They should compliment each other well.
KCP has the ability to potentially guard 3 positions in spurts. He is also a pretty decent offensive player.

Full game with KCP scoring 24 points in a loss to the Wizards. Detroit offense is awful but notice a lot of work off handoffs for him.

I think KCP is gonna be on the Trevor Ariza level in Laker lore.
Gonna hit some big shots and make big defensive plays.
Then he'll be gone next year. And Lakers fans will try to bring him back in trades for years to come

I think KCP is a lot better than Ariza and can be a 20 ppg scorer or close to it. Ariza was primarily a role player. I think KCP can be more.

Hopefully the Lakers can find a way to keep him, it sounds like Pope wants to be here long term so maybe we can do a wink wink deal for 2019 if he's willing to accept a 1+2 deal.

A 1 year deal with a team option so we can reward him in 2019.

Has he expressed his interest to being here long term? I don't remember hearing that...

Anyone that signs a 1 year contract

KNOWS

they need to have a great year in order to secure their next contract...

I think he will play his guts out, next season... and the harder he plays they better the Lakers will be...

Win-Win...!

If he can give us what Barnes did for Dallas we win 45 games.

18ppg player with solid D. Definition of a Super Role Player if Ingram, Randle, and Ball develop properly.

Pretty identical numbers to Russell. About 50 steals more than Nick.
