Most of those rides get taken down and installed every weekend in another town's carnival or fair. I would imagine that just one small missed detail and disaster can strike. Those rides while much less extreme than the ones you see at a place like Magic Mountain, Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm have been thru a lot of stress not only from being disassembled and reassembled every weekend but also from the stress of traveling on the road.

I'm a UES kid . . . Went every year from the mid-70's to the mid-80's.

Used to love the funhouse and trying to pick up on girls with my dumb buddies. Unsuccessfully in all instances as I recall.

Does UCLA still do the Mardi Gras? I live down in San Diego County now so I am not as tied in.

How does "excessive corrosion" go undetected during inspections? I can't imagine anything easier to spot than advanced rust.

Sounds like somebody didn't do their job. If it was microscopic cracks that lead to the entire thing falling apart then that might be understandable since they probably don't have the equipment to do that type of job. But something like rust is pretty easy to detect if you bother to look for it.

true. in addition to just being plain old. all those rides look like your parents road on them. then imagine the rides the kids are riding today are those you road on when you were younger. yes..the exact same rides for a lot of them I bet.

Why check for rust on THIS ride when pretty much all of the rides or rusty and dusty. You see my point? I bet you thats the mindset of the guys checking the rides.

So these rides are old enough for those kid's parents to have been on them?
