No, they got rid of the head of analytics and haven't replaced him. |
Thank you.
Since he is choosing to go on a path different than the path the Dodgers are on, it isn't logical to use them as an example of how things will turn out for the Lakers. |
Not only with analytics, but also surrounding yourself with good basketball minds. Not at all how the Dodgers are staffed. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Yeah, what about the Sparks? Magic and his team bought the Sparks 2 years ago and now they became WNBA Champions for the 3rd time last year. |

He hasn't changed it Jeanie stopped reporting bad news. That's why non ones saying anything negative about the Lakers. She stood in her bro way with the behind the scenes usage of the media. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

I'm thinking Magic's enthusiasm and his effect on PR has likely been the biggest factor in his helping the Dodgers to rise. I think his basketball sense is probably an added asset for the Lakers. It's unclear just how effective he can be overall; he's in a primary leadership position here, unlike with he Dodgers. |

Dodgers were in disarray before Magic and the Guggenheim Baseball Management took over the team. I'm sure he's learned firsthand how to build an organization. Andrew Friedman has done a spectacular job! The delegation that the ownership group (including Magic) has done a masterful job of making them an annual contender and the leading contender for the WS this year! _________________ Do you believe it now, Trinity? - Morpheous |

I wanna say yes! |
Not in the slightest. The Dodgers have arguably the biggest payroll flexibility in all of baseball and they're paired with one of the smartest minds in baseball (Andrew Friedman). _________________

Dodgers drafted well and they have good talent coming up from their farm system. Thats a big reason why they are doing so well. Another thing is that the previous ownership was using the team as their personal piggybank so thats why things were so screwed up. |

As in any business management has to make tough decisions. Trading D-lo was a tough one but I think it will workout for all involved too. |
More importantly, it will work out well for the LAKERS! |

No. He didn't turn the dodgers around, Andrew Friedman did, but even if Magic did (turn the dodgers around), how magic does with the Lakers will give me confidence in his role with the Lakers. |

And the Lakers passed on one of the smartest minds in basketball (West). There is no comparison with how the Dodgers are run. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

As a stock holder of the publicly owned Green Bay Packers, some people might say I had a role in their turnaround...coincidentally at the time Aaron Rodgers became the starting quarterback. |

Yes, there are other differences between the two organizations beyond the analytics.
Since thread starters on LG aren't required to stay in the thread and foster quality discussions, I just made a short and sweet post about the analytics part. If expectations (responsibilities) were higher, then I would have done a more lengthy & detailed post. |

The key is Magic knowing his limits, and letting qualified experts do the things he can't. He was a terrible coach for example, but if he can be the face of the front office and recruiting magnet, while letting the rest of the FO handle personnel moves, i think it can work out well. |
He also has a stake in the Sparks...and they just won it all.
Some people are just blessed like that...he's always felt like one of them. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."

I think Magic has a bit more say on Laker players than he does Dodger players, _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |
