Never going to happen

Quote: | Nick Young, Ice Cube want to see Kobe Bryant play in Big3 next year
Kobe Bryant back on a basketball court, tearing up his peers like old times? People would pay to see that.
As a fan of the man, Nick Young wants to see that happen again — in the Big3 League. That first-year league wraps up its regular season Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (games will be broadcast Monday on FS1), and when you’re talking basketball in LA, you are still talking Kobe’s world. Young, now a guard with the Golden State Warriors (yes, Nick Young may well end up with a ring), told TMZ he wants to see Kobe play Big3.
“If you can get Kobe, man… I wanna see that happen,” said Young.
People would pay to see Kobe be Kobe again (and they would tune into the broadcasts), which is why Big3 co-founder Ice Cube told TMZ he wants to see Kobe in the league.
“I hope his competitive juices get to itching him and he wants to come into the league, score 50 and win the game. We hope he’ll play one day. We expect to have big names next year and hopefully Kobe will be one of them.”
One thing the Big3 seemed to learn in its first year is something the NBA has mastered — stars sell tickets and bring in viewers. People may love basketball, they will play it, but if you really want to be a draw, you need stars. Allen Iverson was the Big3’s biggest draw this season (he was suspended last week after going AWOL in Dallas the week before, he is expected to be in Los Angeles).
Kobe would be a draw. However, after watching him leave the sport with injuries three of his final four seasons, and considering he seems happy having moved on with his life, I’m not sure he comes out to play. We’ll see.
Nick Young is right though, it would be fun. |

I think injuries aren't as much of an issue. He's not plodding through 35 minutes a game. He's not marathoning through a full season.
If he ever wanted an excuse to get into game shape fast, this would be it. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Cube should bring in street ball legends too. Cube needs to give Rafer Alston, The Professor, Hot Sauce, Shane the Dribbling Machine, Headache, A.O., Sick Wit It a call and play in the Big3. |

Would love to see Kobe in the Big3 and it would be a huge scoop for them too.
They have something there with Big3. It still needs some improvement, but, they're on to something. |

Old man league....can't see how this league will succeed beyond a couple year run, not sure Kobe wants to mix it up with gray haired goons like Cat Money and the likes. |

Will there be a next year?
I don't see Kobe doing it just yet. And cetainly not to help save a sinking ship, or to keep some of his lesser peers relevant. Actually, I don't see Kobe doing it at all. He has 5 rings. He has nothing to prove to these guys. And he has nothing to gain by playing vs the corpses of Iverson & Kmart. If Kobe isn't 100 percent committed to training and winning, which he isn't right now, then he's not going to go out there just to have these scrubs take one last shot of him. |

Kobe dragged his ass that final year for the $30 million dollar paycheck and to give the fans a epic final performance in which he scored 60 points. He's not going spoil that so he can play 3 on 3 basketball in a league where he would get paid peanuts in comparison. |

Kobe is on an entirely different level compared to the cats playing in Big 3.
Think about it... There is literally nothing for Kobe to gain by doing this. Not even a little bit. _________________ “There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level.” ―Bruce Lee |

Yeah imagine Kobe being coached by anyone of the big 3 teams LOL. Nobody there has enough clout to run with him. Itd be dope if he Jordan and Duncan formed a team to dominate for a game or two lol. Although Jordan might be too old now |

Surprised at the people who don't want him to play. Why is that?
If he played, you would not want to watch?
I think it would be awesome to see Kobe play again. And against other retired guys maybe he'd look like old Kobe again haha.
Big3 needs a big name anyway. I think one of the best players is Al Hrraington |

Most of the dudes in big 3 are just role players who need a paycheck. AI hasn't even suited up since he knows he doesn't have it anymore and doesn't need to prove anything at his age. Kobe already moved past playing basketball if you read how he treated his last game in the NBA. There is 20 years of NBA archives if you need to see Kobe play when he was in NBA shape. |

Yeah, I can def see why Kobe wouldn't play in it. Just saying it would be cool if he did.

Kobe would go play in Italy before he touched Big 3. Heck... He may even play in the Drew League again before he actually takes a gig playing in a league where Kwame Brown is dropping 20 & 10.
Come on now...
I struggle with it and I miss Kobe... But he's not going to play again unless it's with the Lakers or Italy. I secretly think Kobe is playing SG for us on a 1+1 after this coming year. _________________ “There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. No idea why you would think that (even secretly :p) Not only is he beyond done but he'd be an awful fit. And trust me I love Kob.
As far as the big 3 thing, I don't think Kobe would do it. I think being a shell of himself for 3 seasons was enough for him. It was probably so painful that it made it relatively easy for him to retire.
Had he retired healthy and like on a ring, I could see him making a come back at some point. But the way it ended I doubt we ever see him play again any type of competitive telvised bball.

It's too soon for him to come back to the game. Plus like others have said, what's he have to gain... |

The last image of Kobe on the court was him willing the Lakers to a comeback victory with a 60 point effort. An accidental crossover from Scalabrine during a Big3 game would tarnish that forever. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”
