Went to this local place in Anaheim that actually gets the Dodger games, and although Darvish was obviously fighting his control tonight, man, his stuff is just electric. When your fastball sits in the mid-90's (topping out at 98), and you have about 3 different breaking balls, which he throws at any time, it just makes him so hard to hit. (When he's not tipping his pitches, apparently.) He has that hard slider in the mid-80's that he throws that just darts from one side of the plate to the other, with more of a horizontal sharp break to it, and then he can also flip that slower, mid-70's curveball up there that has more of a vertical sharp break to it. He's fun to watch.

Where broski? I'm in YL if you recall. I met a friend at a sports bar to catch up recently and of course they didn't have the Dodgers on...

One of the great frustrations of living in Anaheim Hills has been that nobody shows Doyer games. Freaking crap Angels and Ducks games on loop. And during basketball season, I have to ask for a tv to be turned to the Lakers.

It's not just our area...it's everywhere. The overwhelming majority of sports bars have DirecTV for obvious reasons (NFL Sunday Ticket and Red Zone). They can't even turn on the Dodgers if they wanted to.

Whip out the tablet and look up youtube streams

That's how I watch at work. I just stream from reddit on my laptop. Makes dinner hours fly by. A part of the enjoyment is kicking back with your buddies having a drink and catching the game on a big screen at a bar.

Yeah I kid. I catch a game with my friends sometimes at Buffalo Wild Wings. They usually have the dodgers on.

BWW shows it too? Cool. All of them?

I can't believe Rich Hill is still going after taking a pitch to the throat like that. He may struggle sometimes like he has tonight. But no doubt that he has that competitive fire.

The Whipping Boy allows a tying homer. I'm always genuinely surprised when he gets through an inning unscathed. His pitches have zero life. I'd like to hit off him, if I were 10 years younger lol.

We should recall Paredes and send Stripling back down. This is like choosing Ryan Kelly over Kent Bazemore.

When can we get Buehler up here?

I'm guessing they'd like to wait until September. It will keep his service time down, and they also would like the rest of the league to have less time to scout him, I think.

Yea Strip's a likable kid and all but he's gotta go back to OKC.

Call Paredes back up like was already mentioned a few posts prior.

The more lefties the merrier.

Kenta/Ryu/McCarthy can serve as our long man come postseason if needed. (Hopefully won't be)

This is the best Puig has looked since his rookie season. So much more comfortable at the plate, just seems like he's settling into knowing who he is as a player. And he's still at the age where his prime is coming. Maybe, just maybe, the Dodgers will be rewarded for holding onto him.

Unless you're talking about how he's looked just since the All-Star break, it isn't close to how he was in his second season, when he was an All-Star. Hitting more homeruns now, but overall he hit better then.

There are other areas he's improved besides the plate, though. He is more selective about his throws and his baserunning.

You guys are way too hard on Joc. We can't have a top-5 guy in MLB at every position. We'll have to settle for top 10-15 at CF. He's been ungodly unlucky with his BABIP too (56 out of 58 with min 100 PA). He'll bounce back.

Seriously, go look at CF. Outside of like 5 guys it falls off really fast.

He does need to pick up his D though. No excuse for that. He's having a down year there.

He'll do until next year and Verdugo.

Yes you are right, I should have said his 1st and 2nd seasons. I think I was remembering that he was mired in a horrible slump at the end of his 2nd season that extended into the postseason, if I'm not mistaken. But yeah, you're right.

To make Ross Stripling look good. It's like this Sabermoron FO enjoys throwing gasoline onto a car fire.

I didn't even know he was still on the team. Then again, I get him and first round bust Chris Anderson mixed up a lot. I guess they're just rotating in the white flag pitchers.

Ryu really laboring in this game. Dodgers currently down 2-1 to the Padres in the fifth, so plenty of time for another comeback.

Speak and it happens. Save some for the post-season.

What a terrible injury that would be. I saw the replay of what happened. Maybe he avoided ACL damage, but it's a severely hyperextended knee, at the very least. His leg just stayed straight and didn't bend, so it's something that's going to keep him out for a while. I know the Nats are possibly our biggest competition, but I don't want to see the guy seriously injured.

Man, pretty cool. Even after playing less games (15 less, to be exact), Bellinger has caught up to Judge. He's basically has one less HR than him, and is one ahead of him in RBI's. Also, Judge's average is expectedly coming down to earth - Average of those two is as close as it's ever been.

This team.

Ryu had one of those meh games, but run support was abyssmal the first half. Joc is TERRIBLE with RISP.
