Point guards who DIDN'T make the West last year:

1. Chris Paul
2. Lillard
3. Conley

Lonzo would need a very enthusiastic fan vote.

Also remember: Three guys who were eastern all-stars last season moved to the west this year: Butler, George and Millsap.

So there is a lot of competition for those 12 spots.

Remember, fan voting only counts for 50% of the total vote. The other 25% is media/current players. So just the fans alone wouldn't get Lopez in.

Absolutely, Lopez is no slouch. If he has a standout year the fan vote could tip the scales for him

With them all heading West I bet yinona can make the East squad.

How about Kuz in the 3-point competition?

He shot a super high % in the Summer

Summer league is summer league. When the real stuff starts, it's hard to imagine he'll be getting enough minutes or shooting a high enough three-point percentage to even be a consideration

He might outplay Deng and Brewer to be BI's main back up at the 3 (prob some time at the back up 4 too)... that's plenty minutes

I don't see the NBA putting a rookie backup in the 3 point contest.

We have 35 nationally televised games. If Lonzo averages double digit assists, along with some highlights here and there, he could very well be voted in. Or we just trade for Lebron mid season.

It's a long shot for a Laker to reach All Star status this Winter. Lonzo seems the most likely guy to make the rookie game. Every other Laker's game last season looked pretty much short of any special annotation.

We can start a pledge list to vote for him as many times as we can when voting opens. It should be doable.

Or run a script

It seems unlikely the first three months of his career will be so amazing that he beats out Westbrook, Harden and Curry. Basically, he'll have to play at an MVP level out of the box .

(That's for the starters; if you are talking reserves, the fan vote doesn't matter at all.)

The last rookie to make the all-star team was Blake Griffin with 23-13-4 in a fairly weak year (the top guys he beat out to be a reserve were Lamar Odom, Rudy Gay and Luis Scola).

This is going to be a first for me this year. But I must admit that I don't know who should represent the Lakers in the All Star game. I'm really going to need to watch this team closely and see what shakes out. I might end up being surprised.
