doesn't matter cause IT won't be dropping 40 on Klay like Kyrie could

IT was the 3rd highest scorer in the game. He can drop 40 on anyone

Cavs made out like bandits, what the heck Ainge. Had he played his cards right he could have gotten PG, Butler and still signed Hayward. I love how all of his jockers were defending him and praising his patience, then he goes and blows his wad on this trade. Part of me thinks that the thought must have at least crossed his mind to give the cavs more flexibility so they can try to keep LeBron (thus keeping him away from us).

If the only goal of Ainge's job is to hurt our "chances" at succeeding at the expense of his own team's success, he won't have a job for much longer. He should not have the least worry about the Lakers who've missed the playoffs for 4 years straight and don't even play in the same conference. Hard to believe that he'd be so ridiculously petty to even possibly risk losing his job over it.

Not suggesting it was the main driver, but something he could have considered. Either way he is dumb.

They still have Brown, Tatum, and our pick. If they wanted to, they could probably get another All-Star or Superstar. Crazy.

Wow.

I bet they go after Marc Gasol now.

That would be sweet. Waste all your assets on a no defense PG and a 32-year-old center.

Why would Memphis want Al Horford?

Who said anything about Horford?

Does the salary cap not exist in your world?

Well you see Boston has other pieces in Smart, Baynes, Morris that they can add to Brown and Tatum to match salaries.
You make a good point, I apologize.

It would decimate their depth. They'd lose to GS regardless.

Wow, Boston got robbed. They practically gave up a Top 5 pick, Jae Crowder and Zizic for 6 inches of height.

IT has better numbers (absolute and advanced) than Kyrie last year. Plus he has proven he has the capability to lead a team to the ECF. Cavs are 4-18 without LBJ since he came back. Kyrie was a 12th seed at best when he was the lead dog pre-LBJ but he was only 22.

Celtics win the trade based off getting the best player in the trade, Kyrie. Yes IT can score but his defense is atrocious, he will be eaten alive by Steph or Klay. Crowder is an ok player. That Kings pick will be nice though when Lebron leaves. Cavs about to have the #1 pick again.

I was thinking the same thing. If he was running laps around Kyrie than he's going to be hopscotching over Isaiah.

In the draft, Celtics traded #1 for #3 and our pick. It's more than just our pick with protections and (bleep).

Trading from #1 to #3 in the draft. IIRC due to protections they only get it if it falls between #2 and #5, and the Sixers keep it if it's #1 or #6-30. Not 100% on that tho

They traded down from #1 to #3 this year. Philly selected Fultz. Celtics selected Tatum and got our pick (with protections) in compensation.

Thanks guys. I was wondering how that happened since we have had no dealings with that team since we got Rick Fox I think.

Both teams get worst imo. Kyrie is not a leader, at least he wasn't before lebron came back. IT played over his head last year. Not an upgrade for Cleveland. The east is such a joke. #1 seed trading with #2 seed? lol wow

I could see this happening. Without Lebron, Kyrie will have to hold down the fort, he could potentially fail and the Celtics get worst despite getting Hayward. IT had a breakout year, but with him playing alongside Lebron there is no guarantee he will have as a successful season as he did in Boston.

This is the same pick from the Nash deal correct? So PhX > philly > Boston?

Real winners are Cavs if they miraculously get Michael Porter Jr at #1 in next years draft.

IT, JR, MPJ, Love, Tristan

Drose, Crowder, Green, Zizic

Still a playoff team.

People saying the Celtics got robbed. No they didn't.

Don't forget, Thomas is coming off injury he could have needed surgery for, and there's no guarantee how he's going to come back or if he does if he's going to be as effective as he was last season and before, they also moved Jae Crowder which gives Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum some minutes.

One thing that needs to be considered when it comes to getting Isaiah, is that 1) he may not be what he was last season and 2) he's gonna have to defend the best point guard on the other team on a nightly. So... say what we will about Kyrie's defense, Thomas's is worse and that was BEFORE his injury.

He also might have an equal or better season because all the attention is on Lebron. In Boston, there weren't many offensive weapons to worry about.

C's got Kyrie and we got a tampering investigation for a player we're
not even sure will want to come here next season; sounds about
right...

And the Celtics in moving Crowder's contract and not needing to pay Thomas have set themselves up to be further in the running for George after the season's over.

IT an expiring though. Will depend on him wanted to resign there or the Cavs wanting to keep him at all.

LBJ leaves, then Love, JT and TT need to go. Time to rebuild from the ground up.

They're keeping Marcus Smart and he's a RFA.

The Cavs got great value in the tight spot they were in.

Irving is only a little better than IT and Jae is awesome plus a Nets 1st.

For Boston they get the best player in the trade but gave up a ton of assets.

The Cavs made a bad deal, Thomas is a liability. You pay him and lose or he walks and you've lost Kyrie for a pick and a replaceable player. That's not a great deal.

TI had the 6th highest orpm (5.7) in the league last season and almost the same rpm as Irving. Jae was the the 5th highest rpm (3.9) of all small forwards. Plus a Nets 1st I see this as a win.

Cavs are following a rpm based way of thinking and we will see how it plays out

Let's skip all the super metrics and ask ourselves this. How many 5'8" point guards have led their team to a championship? The deal was a loser for Cleveland, they'll be a worse team in the playoffs.
LeBron is officially leaving next year, you have my word on it.
