With the Shabazz news that GT broke, thats one more body to the roster. So many players coming into training camp. I can't wait for the battles to determine the roster spots and lineups.

There is a definite jam, especially at 2/3/4. Has to be some trade, I would think.

So it's a wait and see if it does happen.

I wonder if we gave him the min contract or the room exception, assuming the deal is done.

It's been the longest offseason ever for me. Hopefully the season will be exciting.

Magic's showing signs of knowing what he's doing. Looks like he's looking ahead. I don't see us as a contender next season I do see us as being competitive.

Trying to stay as out of the loop as possible so the wait for NBA to start doesn't drive me nuts. But I am absolutely fascinated with this roster and excited to see what Lonzo can do his first year

There is a definite jam, especially at 2/3/4. Has to be some trade, I would think.

Trades that worked in the past were done after showcasing new guys and raising their value.

86'/'87: L.A. put liptstick and perfume on a couple of pigs, 7' 2" stiff Peter Gudmonson (sp?), and 6' 10" stone hands Frank Brickowski. The Spurs thought they had a good deal and gave up former #1 pick Mychal Thompson who brought needed size and athleticism to battle Boston.

'06 / '07 Brian Cook and f/a Maurice Evans were polished up, dusted off, and sent to Orlando for young Trevor Ariza who helped an 11-8 squad win 17 of their next 20. If they get out some lipstick, perfume, and start buffing, they may find a sucker out there looking to steal a couple deep bench guys who Lonzo makes look like future stars.

We all have our various opinions but I just wonder what people are thinking when they keep projecting the team defense to be bad and then flash a picture of Clarkson, a non-starter to make the point.
Of the 3 sg's, the other 2 are very strong defenders.
A stronger Ingram, Kuzma, Brewer, and even Deng are good defenders,
Randle is the only other possible issue, but he's capable and needs to show full time commitment. Nance and Kuzma will happily take over if he's not giving the effort.
Lopez is capable while Zubac will block shots and hopefully get a little better defensively.
Backup pg moves well on D.

With a rotation of more than 10 capable guys, most are pretty good defenders, so why should we be more concerned than any other team?

I can't recall another group of Laker players/team working out together for the majority of the off season, at their own facility (with assistant coaches and trainers involved). The NBA may have cut preseason short, but these group of guys effectively extended it by consistently showing up at the practice facility. Looking forward to that chemistry translating when the games really count.
