If La was out if the equation, do you guys think Zo would have gone #1?

I think he means without the fear of Lavar making a stink. Maybe Boston takes him.

I doubt any team thought that (and if they did, they're destined for failure). I didn't hear one person say "Ball is the #1 pick in this draft, but his dad is a problem, so we'll take Fultz." Fultz was the #1 pick on the majority of boards, and went #1. Let's not start rewriting history.

Well, the Celtics never got a workout. They probably do if the Lakers are out of the picture, and we know they weren't that enthused with Fultz.

Either the Celtics really liked Taytum, or didn't find Fultz that impressive, or thought there was a good chance that the Lakers (and thus them) would land another high pick this upcoming season.

I thought it was a weird move at the time.

Maybe. My point is Fultz was #1 on more boards than Ball. That doesn't mean Ball couldn't have gone #1, I just don't think if the Lakers weren't in the top 5, he suddenly becomes the #1 pick on more team's boards.

Ainge said twice on record the they really hoped Ball would come in but his people were holding him out. It is very possible that if they worked Lonzo out they would have loved what they saw.

Maybe there were already Kyrie discussions and thus they knew Fultz or a PG was not their guy .. ?

Quite the contrary... Danny Ainge hates the Lakers, if he wanted Lonzo, he would have taken him.

3 teams had a chance at Ball. Only the Lakers pulled the trigger.

Nah, Fultz would still go first. Lonzo would have gone #2 regardless.

no, Fultz is still the most talented prospect in the draft. I am not sure Lonzo goes #2 if LA did not have the pick.
