What is the most Portland thing that Damian Lillard could do? The answer is obvious.

According to a recent post to his Instagram, the Portland Trail Blazers star point guard is now going with a vegan diet.

Lillard decided to move to a vegan cuisine in order to drop some pounds this season. The goal for Lillard was to get down to the 190 pounds he played at when he was a rookie.

Via TrailBlazers.com:

This has to be some kind of a response to Lillard battling with constant aches and pains over the course of last season. The point guard has been rock solid for the Trail Blazers in his five seasons with the team, playing in all 82 regular season games in his first three seasons and 75 regular season games each of the last two.

But Lillard had to deal with a nagging leg injury last year, and it was clear that he didnít have the explosiveness he needed in the first half of the season. C.J. McCollum was at times a more important player for the Trail Blazers due to some of Lillardís up and down play as he tried to force the issue.

Most of us wouldnít decide to go with a vegan diet, but if you had to the best way to do it certainly would be with a private chef. No doubt fans in Portland are hoping to see a quicker Lillard next year.

I likely wouldnt go all out vegan or vegetarian but if I was a rich professional athlete I'd definitely have a private chef making ultra healthy but still tasty meals.

If I were as rich as Lillard that would be the one thing I would want a personal chef the other a personal driver.

Interesting. One thing I notice from my vegetarian friends....

They seem to get sick about 10 times a year. Always coming down with something

I rarely get sick. A lot of newbie vegetarians don't really cultivate a whole vegetarian diet they just kind of stop eating meat and end up carboloading. It's important to really be mindful when you switch to a vegetarian diet and make sure you get enough protein etc.

I've been a vegetarian for 2 years, I don't get sick any more often than I did before. A friend of mine has been a vegetarian for even longer, and she never gets sick. So unless there's some kind of data that shows they're significantly more sick than meat eaters, then I wouldn't put much weight in your anecdotal experiences.

Very much an anecdotal experience. Being vegetarian is obviously very good for you. At least in the short term
