I'm sure Lebron cares a great deal about what Lavar says. Lebron's a businessman, he knows what's up.

I'm gonna guess... LA lol. If I were MJ, not only I want WB in Lakers, I'll try to get Lonzo too

MJ who built his brand in Chicago? He knows that location doesn't matter.

While it is true you can build a brand in a small market, the companies do actually have additional bonus incentives if you are in a marquee market, and one would think you have a greater chance to build your brand/market in a larger market.

If WB kills it in OKC endorsement wise, I would wager that he makes an additional multiplier effect amount of money in LA. It's going from "big" to "biggest."

I don't know, you are the only one who mentioned small market so you tell us. Chicago isn't LA, funny that we have circled back to the 1990's idea that players will come here because we are LA. Despite years of contradictory FA signings. A Jeanie "come to LA" campaign?

I gotta check the numbers, but why did the guys join up in Miami instead of Toronto or Cleveland? Why did Melo want to leave Denver? Why did cp3 say he'd only re-sign if he was traded to LA?

I am saying it doesn't matter. Westbrook got that deal in OKC, not LA. Obviously that didn't factor in Jordan's decision.

Yep, these days it matters less so where you play than it did back in the day. The game is so global now and players get a lot of face time.

But these are the nice marketing points to add.

Hell, Melo grew up mostly in Baltimore yet the Knicks milked the hell out of his short stint growing up in NY.

Imagine rolling out WB/Lonzo/PG13/Brook and the strong LA connections. It would be pretty sweet.

Don't stop there, bench of DeMar and K.Love

Kevin Love is from Portland! I know Lakers fans like calling someone an Los Angelino after a year at UCLA! 😁😁😁

Lakers still has the biggest fan base in US and outside of US... especially China, being a Lakers superstar is still > being an OKC superstar

That is my point, whether in LA or any other city these players are on national TV with national exposure. There is no longer just one national TV game on Sunday afternoon, we have more than a half dozen national games a week. Lebron sold a prime time TV show to NBC from Cleveland. Guys might have a preference where they want to live, but there is national exposure from any NBA city. If you have the talent then you will have the opportunities.

You don't think WB being a Lakers superstar won't gain him more fans than being an OKC superstar?

Do fans equal dollars? I am a fan of Westbrook, it doesn't matter where he plays. And I spend $0 on that fandom.

You're missing a key point. No one disputes how you can be successful in a small market.

The argument is you can be even more successful in a larger market (and most shoe companies will give you an enhanced amount for being in a larger market.

So instead of 50m/year in endorsements, you get 75-90m being in LA. And so on.
