Exactly. I don't think Beverly can mess with Lonzo mentally. |

Still a good test for ball handling pressure and off ball pay. Patrick does both. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

At UCLA, Lonzo had trouble with the wings who were guarding him with length, quickness and tenacity. He was vulnerable to ball strips on drives and poke-aways on face-up dribbles. Who isn't really (!), but my point is that Lonzo will see more of that player profile in the NBA than he did in college, and more often at an even more elite level of length, quickness and tenacity.
Beverly looks like one such candidate.
Lonzo was best in transition offense, in open court after a possession change before most defenses could organize while getting back and before they could identify his position, passing lanes, targets. |

Having watched a lot of his games, he rarely gets into one on one battles. He'll pass it before he gets into trouble. |

Are you talking about the Kentucky game with Fox and monk who I don't think are wings with length, nor do I think pat is. But who were the other defenders that gave him trouble?
Not saying it didn't happen. Just wanted to be reminded.

Beverley can trouble Lonzo in ways outside of goading him into a 1 on 1 battle. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Lonzo seems like a cool cucumber, but he is a rookie. No question every player he faces is going to try to rattle him the first time they meet. I expect Beverly to be play dirty and try to get inside Lonzo's head all game long and during every time out, free throw, and even huddles if he can. We'll see how Lonzo handles it.
I do expect Lonzo to get the ball out of his hands quickly, and this should help. Nonetheless I wouldn't be surprised if Luke has a 'Plan B' using Ingram as ball handler if the offense bogs to half court sets and Lonzo has any problem with Bevery's pressure. IF that happens, I'll be curious how creative Lonzo gets playing off ball, with Randle or Nance cutting to the rim, or someone like Kuzma waiting on the wings. |

He injured Westbrook by diving into his knee as Westbrook was obviously going for a timeout call |

It's like Magic. When he was supposedly being "shut down" by Pippen, in reality, he actually adjusted by Game 3 -- getting it upcourt faster instead of bumping his way up every time. Length only partially obscured his field of vision and subtracted certain looks he might've preferred to throw. What bothered Magic the most was Pippen's raw athletic ability to recover and switch. Like Earv, I think Zo is good enough of a passer to be able to pivot around and still find an open man or to simply get it upcourt when a guy like PB tries to hawk him every time up. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

I recall reading at some point after Magic's retirement from playing that he'd cited Rodman and Sid Moncrief for having given him the hardest time. Pressured with long arms, high intensity up close, strength and superior quickness, each guy made an impression apparently.
I don't know who'll be Lonzo's half court nemesis early on, but I could picture serious contention coming from Russell Westbrook as the Moncrief squid and and Kawhi as the Worm 2.0 . Down the line, maybe Dennis Smith and D'Aaron Fox respectively ... |

Ruined what could have been a Finals run for OKC that season. |

I think it's great Lonzo gets hit with Bev right off the bat. Bev plays like his career is on the line every game. Welcome to the NBA Lonzo, learn how the intensity changes from the preseason to the first real games. |
