Two horse race??

Quote:
Los Angeles Lakers fans are still waiting to know who the 15th and final member of the 2017-18 team will be and they will probably have to wait for the end of the preseason or more to know it.
Still, we can already take a look at the frontrunners from the training camp.

The front office added multiple players as training camp invitations but, as things are currently set, it looks like it will resolve as a two-men run between Vander Blue and Briante Weber to try to get that final spot.

It's starting to look like Shabazz Muhammad could be in the mix for a roster spot (yes, no, maybe)?

Quote:
While the Timberwolves are holding onto hope that they can bring back Shabazz Muhammad, there’s increased speculation that the free agent forward will join the Lakers on a one-year deal, writes Kyler. Many people in NBA circles believe the idea of getting a bigger role and a bigger stage in Los Angeles would appeal to Muhammad, Kyler adds.

Thanks for the update pio2, looks like we will soon add another talent to the roster, I believe Shabazz will have a good season.

If it comes to fruition it will give SM a great platform to showcase his skills in hopes of landing a fatter contract somewhere.
Therefore we can expect him to do his best to "ball-out." Win-win for both sides.

I think that if Vander Blue does not earn a roster spot he will be offered the second two-way contract with the Lakers.

Any thoughs on VJ Beachem??
Does he have a legit shot of making the roster or is he camp fodder??

maybe South Bay bound??

Some thought VJ Beachem should have been a second-round pick in the Draft because he was invited to the draft combine.

In his senior season, he averaged 14.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. he shot 36% from deep.

He could possibly be a 3-and-D player.

Well that pretty much answers that question (as long as Bogut stays healthy).

Andrew Bogut to sign with Lakers for 1 year, $2.3 million

Zubac and Bryant should gain a lot of knowledge from those two vets. 👍🏾

iirc they are at 20 players for camp right now by adding Bogut. Have to think he has one of the top 15 spots unless something significantly changes.

But I do not remember them designating a second 2 way yet. Have they? Just Caruso so far, correct?

I will be pissed if they signed Weber. He completely (bleep) me last year in a straight game bet and a 7 team parlay. I forgot what game it was but the spread was -12 with 3/4 mins in the 4th and the Warriors are up 20+. Back to back turnovers, missed layups, basically EVERYTHING went wrong and I ended up losing both bets.

Ending up losing $500 on the full game spread and $100 on the parlay (went 6/7 on it)

$100 on a 7 team parlay? Man you're not messing around. Guessing you already have a gold card 8f you play at a casino lol.

Looks like Lopez may have back issues so that probably means Bogut will take the last spot. Heck he may even start if Lopez is not available.

Zubac and Bryant is not going to do it. Zubac is fine as a backup and if fine for a temporary starter but he is a 20 minute a game max player right now. Bryant, who I love needs development time.

Not sure if he signed a 2 way contract or a camp invite type.

Are you saying Blue was signed as a 2 way? I was actually thinking Bryant or even Zubac would make sense as a 2way type contract if Bogut and Lopez seem like they have the mins at center locked down.

Anyone know if a 2 way contract can be converted to a full time roster spot later in the season if a roster spot and need occurred?

Zubac & Bryant are already under contract. Vander Blue will probably get the last two-way contract if he does not make the roster .

Quote:
NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.
