Quote:
Carmelo Anthony Willing to Accept Trade to Cleveland or Oklahoma City

Carmelo Anthony will likely start the season with the New York Knicks since a trade with the Houston Rockets has not materialized. However, according to ESPN, Melo has given the Knicks the names of two additional teams he would waives his no-trade clause for – the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers are no surprise as they hold the ultimate Banana Boat-er, LeBron James. (With Dwyane Wade not far behind?) The Thunder are a bit more of a surprise, but apparently the idea of playing alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George is tempting enough for Anthony.

Then there are the Portland Trail Blazers who really want Melo, but that crush remains unrequited. The Blazers were a .500 team and the 8-seed in the loaded Western Conference last season. The Thunder won 47 games and will most definitely jump over the Clippers and Jazz next season into the top half of the West playoff picture.

If that were the case it wouldn't matter where he went he clearly wants to choose where he ends up if he's no longer on the Knicks.

BTW I still can't believe he's still on the Knicks... Awkward...

He wants the best of both worlds...unfortunately, for him the Knicks won't take a bad deal just to get him off the team.

How are the Thunder able to get the better end of the deals? The Thunder just escaped from bad contracts to Oladipo and Kanter.

Desperate teams that needed to unload their best player for peanuts. PG13 and Melo did everything to make themselves unwanted on their former squads.
Also superstar players know their legacy is tied to whether they win a championship in their careers....so it ends up with all the good players joining other good players.

Also think him willing to go to OKC, a smaller market than even Denver, shows how bad the situation between him and the Knicks deteriorated. New York was basically his home.

Westbrook and Carmelo. The ball movement will be off the charts.

Lesson for all GM's....look at Pacers and Knicks and realize that holding onto your disgruntled assets for so long results in diminishing returns.

Either this will work out really well for OKC, or it will be spectacularly disappointing. Westbrook and Melo need the ball in their hands to make things happen. Not sure if Melo can change his game and do things off the ball and work to get open. I feel the same way about CP3 and Harden in Houston.

This big 3 better not work. If OKC gets to the WCF and compete, PG may be tempted to stay.

Oladipo, Kanter, McDermott, Sabonis and 2nd round picks for PG13 and Melo after losing KD, High risk high reward gamble but even if none of them resign with OKC, they've cleared their book... not bad at all

Yeah, my concern too. Winning can make players conform

I highly doubt it. PG will be getting about 4 shots a game.

I was thinking the same thing. The ages are reversed this time, though.

I don't see Melo working in this lineup. Or in godforsaken OKC.

Hopefully, George will tire of playing third fiddle to these two ball hogs and follow thru with his previous desire to sign with the Lakers after this upcoming season...!
