Paul George is going to be stuck shooting corner 3's for these 2 knuckleheads.

Bricks galore! Inefficient big 3. But that's good news for the Lakers. Melo to the Blazers may have added more competition to the remaining playoff spots. But to the Thunders, who already have a spot locked, it's moot.

Hopefully that will be Carmelo's role.

The irony in Enes Kanter being most vocal about family and loyalty in his jabs at Durant. Too bad Durant got caught with the twitter thing so he's probably off the grid, otherwise, it would be entertaining to see him tweeting Enes about being traded.

I don't really see that as being irony as KD left on his own accord and Kanter was traded. So the Thunder management didn't value him as much as he valued that team.

Good move by OKC, you have to show your star player that you are committed to winning. The West will be tougher this season.

I'm not even a fan of Carmelo's game, but come on: the Knicks traded him for Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott?

And a draft pick. If I was a Knicks fan, I'd be pretty happy about that trade.

If I were a Knicks fan I'd feel like we got screwed. But at least now they can move on and build around Porzingis. I wonder if there's any possibility they can attract Lebron or any other big FA next summer now that Melo and Phil are gone.

I may be one of the few, but I really can't see OKC being good next year. At best, a middle seed in the West with no hope of challenging the Warriors, Spurs or Rockets.

Not a fan of Carmelo at all even when he was younger. OKC will be an absolute chemistry nightmare. Not nearly enough balls to go around and I can see Westbrook and Carmelo butting heads all season long. To be honest, it reminds me of the 2012 Lakers.

Hmm, I see irony, but English wasn't my best subject. LOL! When KD left, the talk was about loyalty. Players have been saying loyalty is a two way street, but in the NBA, it seems one way. Players are supposed to be loyal, but when the team trades you, it's "business." Kanter completely buying into this loyalty thing to his team, blasting the guy who is empowering his peers, unbeknownst to him, he was on the chopping block. Kinda ironic.. no?

Even Bron, Wade and Bosh had to figure it out, and at the time, those were 2 of the top 3 in the league. I don't think Thunders will do much either. But the West playoffs is going to be fun!

Another reason why OKC will fall just short of being a true title contender is because they don't really have any good 3-pt shooters. McDermott and Oladipo might have been their two best 3-pt shooters and they had to trade them to get PG and Melo.

Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. This will be interesting.

Westbrook/Melo/PG13 will combine to average 90 PPG.

The rest of the team will combine to average 15 PPG.

I think a lot of people react more to Carmelo's name than to the actual player. He's old, overpaid, and rapidly declining. He's 33 years old. He has maintained his points per game, more or less, but advanced metrics show that he is rapidly diminishing since 2014. Last year, his PER was 17.9 and his VORP was 0.8. His RPM was 0.12, which was 29th among SFs and 139th among all players. Basically, he's a famous player who is a couple years past his sell-by date.

I never thought he was all that good. I don't believe that there was ever a time when I would have ranked him among the top ten players in the league. As of now, I wouldn't put him in the top fifty. I just looked up ESPN's rankings out of curiosity. They rank him 64th. That sounds about right.

This was a no brainer trade for OKC. They were low on Kanter and have been shopping him. McDermott is at BEST, a 8th/9th guy on your rotation.

I think OKC is going all in for 1 year; i don't see them keeping all 3 of PG13/WB/Melo. That bill just for salaries could be near 100m (cap is projected at 102m). If they keep their core (Adams, Roberson notably), they may have a luxury bill/repeater tax of over 80m in 2018.

OKC isn't about that life.

Valid points in terms of the cap and contracts. I also feel that Sam Presti wouldn't let anyone just walk away for nothing again and he learned his lesson. Is just hope that OKC doesn't develop a healthy chemistry to tempt PG13 to stay. My opinion is this trade doesn't help the Lakers if they want him next summer. I could be overthinking this, but I also sense that two ball dominant players in WB and Melo might discourage PG13 to stay and I hope that is the case.

They were a 6 seed with just Westbrook, adding two other all stars will be an improvement. It isn’t like they are duplicating position (like trying to fit 3 SFs like Lebron, PG and Ingram). They will compete for a 2-4 seed in the West.

There will be no repeater tax in 2018.

Early in his career, I thought of Carmelo as a rich man's Paul Pierce.

Ironically, it turned out that he's actually a poor man's Paul Pierce...
