Aren't there ways to get over the cap? A simple trade of Josh Hart or whoever for a player making slightly more, for instance.
As part of getting the cap in the first place, the full MLE has to be renounced. You can't then go over the cap and then get a full MLE (b/c you renounced it).
Didn't Houston start this season under the cap before acquiring minimum salary players to qualify for the full MLE? Where are you reading that the exception has to be "renounced"?

Check Larry's blog. The whole point is that teams can't have both the benefits of cap space AND avail themselves of a full MLE too. Double windfall. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
He did participate in some drills and shooting, so it doesn't look like it's gonna be a issue, hopefully this is just the Lakers trying to be more smart and looking at the big picture.

Thats what im hoping for as well.. its preseason and theyre giving Lopez more time to fully recover instead of putting his at risk.

His issue is back spasm correct peeps ?
It's minor, so no big deal. Trudell said he looked good today, so I think he can ply Saturday but they don't want him to, so he can be more healthy for the 82 game season.
Offense should hopefully look 1000x better. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points."
Hope we get all the guys back and healthy by Sunday with Lopez playing. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Lonzo and Lopez's P & P is gonna be fun to watch as well.
If it ends up working, Ball can end up averaging 12-13APG, and I don’t think that’s fantasy, we haven’t had a elite offensive big man since Pau and if Lopez is hitting jumpers off of assists by Lonzo, he’s gonna be upping his assist usage at a high rate.
