What kind of offense are they running right now? Is it the same offense that Luke brought from the Warriors? If so, they need to put good shooters with Lonzo on the court and not ISO players like Randle and to some extent BI who likes to dribble the ball first.
Can anyone confirm? _________________ Let's Go Lakers!!! |

They aren't running an offense now. Due to the shortened training camp they have not installed the offense yet. Due to how bad their D was last season, they spent the vast majority of the training camp on defensive drills and concepts. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

The offense they're running right now is called... "JUST RUN".
However if they don't JUST RUN it becomes "Pass The Ball Around Until It Gets To Ingram Or Randle And Let Them Iso" or "PTBAUIGTIORALTI" for short. _________________ |

It looks like they are experimenting with different play types. In the 3rd last night they were obviously getting the ball to Randle in the low post and letting him work. In the 1st they were working on defense and running. There is no way to know what will work with a particular unit unless you experiment. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I thought that much. They weren't running the offense they ran last year and were pretty much running generic pick and roll. Kuzma and Lonzo will thrive in that offense. _________________ Let's Go Lakers!!! |

But I'm impressed with their fastbreak. I see many ball and players movements too. We just haven't found a rhythm yet. |

Half court nothing much. Pick and roll is the default lol.
I actually like our transition offense tho. A lot of delays happening. But we havent been getting any stops to have many opportunities. |

So all those midrange shots were by design? |

I still need these guys to find there lanes quicker and spread the heck out. i can't stand it when guys are running all up in other guys lanes. making it harder for them to get a score. if you spread out with a ball handler like zo pushing it. you will get some super exciting passes and finishes. we have other guys that can make that extra pass to in randle, BI.
but i need the guys to run their lanes better. not just run fast. |

So all those midrange shots were by design? | if the defense backs off of you and sags in the lane. you need to pop a few and make them come out to guard you. and they will eventually, i dont care what the analytics say. they will always start to come out after a few made buckets from that area. |

So if they got Luke so he can run the GS Warriors offense then why aren't they running it? I think pre-season is the time to install the offense and learn. _________________ Let's Go Lakers!!! |

I haven't studied the film enough to tell, but it seems like its a "Free" style of offense at this time. I thought I saw a couple of weaves at the top on a few possessions that resembled a GSW styled offense, but not sure.
They are probably just committing to passing and screening away, screen and roll, pick and pop type of stuff.
My feeling is that eventually it will be run and gun with Zo at the Point much like his days at Chino Hills and somewhat similar at UCLA. That's where he's most effective, getting the ball up the court. But currently it seems as though we only have maybe 3 players who can lend to that style of play.
If our defense was better, even without sets our offense would look ok. |
