I think in the running against Zo, DSJ, Simmons. If he gets enough minutes, I think he puts up enough numbers to be ROY. The only question mark is Luke's rotations. PG is hardest position to learn I think it would be harder for Zo and Simmons to put up enough stats. DSJ has the green light and minutes in Dallas as a scorer so he would be the toughest guy for Kuz to beat.

He'll split the vote with Lonzo. I kind of think DSJ is a lock.

My pick is DSJ or Malik Monk (if he gets the proper minutes).

Kuzma is absolutely in the convo if he's starting. Hard to imagine him winning off the bench

I think the better Kuzma plays, the less likely Ball will win the award....and vice versa....If they both have good...or bad seasons, I doubt either of them win ROY.

The competition is going to be stiff - he easily would've won if he had come out last year - and he and Lonzo will likely split the vote. But he has a shot if Luke gives him the minutes.

Tough competition but he has a chance. Utah's rookie Mitchell looked great last night.

Hes getting 18ppg on his own. I can see him get an efficient 21ppg starting with Zo. I can’t see any other rookie coming close. He’d be a lock. It all depends on Luke. If the goal is to feature your young talent to attract FA. He’s gotta start.

If he continues to play the way he has played this Summer I think he has a legitimate shot.

not sure being with Ball has much to do with his success...I think he was a more prolific scorer in SL during the games Ball actually did not play. Personally, I still think it is extremely far fetched that he would score 21 PPG as a rookie....defenses will adjust and make things harder on him in the season once he is scouted. There are several other rookies that may be volume scorers...so not sure what makes you feel none of them will get close to Kuzma.

I haven't seen one rookie (including Lonzo) with his completeness and polish. If he isn't ROY, he's no worse than top four. That's about as good as it gets for a 27th pick.

I'll have to see him play in a couple actual regular season NBA games to make my decision because you can't put too much into meaningless games, but as of right now I'm saying no because I think josh Jackson will win it

Given how many PFs we have, I think Kuzma has the greatest risk of losing time if he goes into a cold spell.

The other three guys are heir apparents who are going to get playing time no matter what.

That said, we haven't even played one real game, so lots could happen. Before last season started, no one thought Brogdon would be RoY

Based on his level of play? Yeah, he should absolutely be in that conversation if he can perform the same through the regular season. But, I think there's too many factors that take priority over one of our rookies winning the award. Even if Randle and Ingram are struggling to perform up to their hype, there's a good chance that the FO will decide to continue giving them feature minutes for exposure. The best case scenario for Kuzma is that he plays so well and consistently that he essentially forces the FO to reconsider their stance that Ingram is untouchable, for example. I'm not rooting against BI. I'm simply pointing out that they will want to build up the value of their trade chips if that becomes their line of thought.

Randle may not be with the team next year unless the FO strikes out entirely on signing a star or two to join the team. The salary situation along with JRs cap hold are well documented. Ingram plays the same position as PG13 and LeBron (if he refuses to play the 4) and possibly Kuzma as well depending on how Luke and the staff choose to use him in their lineups. So, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they eventually decide that a high lotto guy like Ingram could be used to trade for a star player. Or even worse, be used as the bait to unload Deng's contract. If the FO is convinced that a target like George or LBJ won't be attainable next summer, that could open up several other possibilities that aren't typically being mentioned.

Even if the FO aims to keep all of these developing young players, our roster and glut of forwards will make it difficult for Kuz to get enough PT to win the rookie award. It's tough to predict. Of course, injuries could easily change all of that. The bigger factor may be how many minutes they choose to hand out to Deng and Brewer for the 3 and 4 spots.

The only player that is guaranteed to get as many minutes as he can handle is Lonzo. Kuzma could fall prey to factors beyond his control. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Kuz won't get the kind of playing time the other top rookies will get imo.

Not a chance. Many reason as mentioned above including split with Lonzo and playing time. I think Jackson/Smith/Markkanen will win it because they are talented kids playing for scrub teams and will get the minutes. This is not to say they are the best because this award is skewed somewhat and sometimes meaningless. I do love Kuz and he and Swanigan are the best late picks and will both be Studs.

All Rookie-- yes.
ROY- I don't know.

Luke better give him ample mins.

Crazy to think we got a guy that looks top 5 in a LOADED CLASS at #27.

Simmons seems like the easy favorite to win ROY.

Simmons, DSJ, Ball are the 3 top guys IMO.
