Don't feel bad. He did it to himself with his attitude. There was a story about his attitude getting him in trouble in High School and it took drastic measures by the coach to snap him out of it. It's a pattern with him. Lakers didn't want to deal with the attitude any longer. Thankfully we lucked out and got Kuzma from the trade. Happy ending for everyone involved.

Yep, that was something I believe he said Kobe stressed. Studying film was important, and it was something he adopted into what he did.

But hey... Byron said he wasn't a leader so it had to be correct right?

I'll take good play and spotty attitude over the reverse any day.

I think he's referring to the time that the Montverde coach subbed out the 15 year old for shooting too much.

People have such a low benchmark for this FO. Imagine if we asked for Exum for Utah to move up to #28? They wouldn't have done it and he's no where near DLo's caliber right now. We could have moved up to #26 or #27 by giving up #28 and 2nd rounders from Chicago. And drafted Kuzma. No need to give away a lottery pick. That's what Utah did with us. We could have had DLo, Zo, Ingram and Kuzma if this FO was competent.

I think you're forgetting the dump salary angle.

Anyway, I wouldn't have traded D'Lo in a salary dump like this FO did.

In the early part of the video, he has some passes to Brooklyn bigs. Is he doing that better than in past seasons?

How about Dlo AND Kuz which was the likely result.

About the same I think. I will say that he'll get more opportunities to playmake with the ball in early offense this year despite sharing PG duties, as Randle used to either bring it up himself or would give the outlet too late.

That is logical about more opportunities due to the differences between the Brooklyn bigs and Randle.

I don't understand why we had to make the salary dump NOW. We could have at least showcased him for a year and then dumped him for more, and only if we knew both LeBron and George were coming.

The best stat for Russell last night was the 7 FTAs in 24 minutes.

Yeah obviously Magic wanted to make a statement that "his guy" Lonzo was going to be the PG and face of the franchise. Fine I get it.

What I don't get is why Magic and Luke as respected long time vets, HC, and GM couldn't work with DLo without all the pressure of being the franchise PG and get him to play off Ball. It's like they said he wasn't a leader and just threw the baby out with the bath water. To this point DLo seems to have no problem sharing a role with Lin in Brooklyn but then again Atkinson seems to have a better way of relating to his players.

As for the Kuzma angle they did have Houston's first round pick and still could've selected Kuz. From what I understand Luke is the one who pushed the Kuzma selection so they would've found a way to draft him regardless of the DLo trade.

There is the possibility that it will be more difficult to get rid of unwanted contracts (Mozgov & Deng) next summer than it was this past summer.

If they have LeBron and PG ready to sign and the final hurdle is clearing enough cap space, stretching both Mozgov and Deng would be a huge hit against the team salary for five seasons.

If they would want to dump Mozgov with no salary coming back in a difficult market, the cost could be higher than just Russell if the deal is even possible.

Yea, but there was no reason to do it this early. Ingram is not ready to be 20 PPG player that Magic is desperately hyping him to be. Moz/Deng would have had a year less if we waited until next summer and we'd be in better position to judge which youngsters to keep.

I think this is how most of us felt. We weren't gonna sign anybody big this summer so why was the salary dump so necessary? We could've seen how Ball and Russell aye together and of it didn't work then you make the trade. But I'm not a executive soaube I don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

That's what I noticed as well.

He looked really comfortable out there in the offense, not only finding his own but I saw some nice passes as well. Still see some inconsistency on the defensive end.
