I wasn't around LG back in the day, but a LOT of people (fans and specialists) wanted Vonleh at #7. Funny thing is, the only pick they missed recently (Anthony Brown) was the only late pick most people agreed upon when it was made. He was a sure deal as a 3&D role player. _________________ .... |

It's really kind of silly to try to parse out individual credit for draft picks because unless you are on the inside you don't really know who said/did what. I just give credit to the front office as a whole. |

Zo proved it in SL. I'd still take Zo at #1. How do you declare him a bust after playing 1.5 preseason games |

Although we got super lucky to get 3 #2 picks in a row, not getting the #1 pick is the reason why we don't have a legit superstar talent yet. Had we got #1 in 2015 we'd have KAT, 2016 we'd have Simmons. I do believe Lonzo was the best player in this years draft it'll just take him some time to adjust to NBA physicality and speed. |

Yeah this. OP can't be serious. Lonzo set the NBA world on fire in summer league. With his passing and court vision, not his daddy's talking. OP I don't know what you're talking about. |

Can we lock this thread? I mean the OP is bashing a guy as a bust who has played 1 and 1/2 NBA pre-season games. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

I 100% agree with your last sentence....but not so much your initial statement. He proved what? That he could be successful against mostly guys that are not NBA players? His or any players performance in SL proves very little if anything. I would say give him about 3 years before you can really reach an educated conclusion, but after visiting the BI thread, my gut tells me LG will give him much less time. |

Fans often rush to judgment. If a rookie plays a couple of good preseason games they imagine he's a Hall of Famer; a couple of bad games they want to trade him. We see that every year.
If Kuzma goes through a predictably rookie dry spell, we'll have to hide the kitchen knives. |

My point is if you can't take stock in 5 games of SL how can you take stock in 1.5 preseason games. |

I agree....I would put money on Ball having some amazing performances this year, as well as some stinkers. Same for Kuzma......and most other talented rookies. The difference will be when a couple or few of them become more consistent in their positive performances....while more of the talented rookies have less consistency and evolve into role players. I am confident Ball will throughout this year, and next, decrease his poor performances and be one of the better players in the crop. Is he the best player, the 3rd best, etc....only in time will we learn that... |

Yeah, i thought he was boring. But now that i see Lonzo in the flesh, OMG.
And Fultz play in the NBA he is light years better than Ball. His game is NBA ready material.
I was basing my assessment on college ball. But now that i see both in the NBA.

We have no choice but to wait another several years.
Because this team is going to be bad this year.
I hope i'm wrong of course, but we are experiencing the curse of the 2nd pick in the draft syndrome.
DLO, Lonzo, BI.
Simmons looks the real deal, Karl Anthony Towns the real deal, Fultz the real deal.
We picked the 2nd pick and again we got a guard the 3rd best guard in the draft.
Dennis Smith Jr, Fox and Fultz are better than Ball IMO. They can score do not have crooked jump shot.

For BALL. I have a feelin the lavar persuasion had something to do with it.
Magic was sold.
Do not get me wrong Lonzo is going to be a niiiiice player in 1 or 2 years.
But there were players in the draft that would make an immediate impact.
Lakers needs to step up their game in the draft..It was a deep draft and
they should have done their homework instead of listening to LAVAR.

maybe just a case of getting out of bed on the left side, and "Lonzo is the man"....roll out of the right side and "Lonzo sucks"?

Ive been pretty critical of the new Lakers FO moves but this is ridiculous. Ball was pretty much consensus top 3 pick. You cant fault the Lakers on taking him.
But there would have been bloodshed if they used the #2 pick to get players who were barely even ranked in the top 10 of this draft _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

I seem to remember a very young and talented trio of russ/KD/harden that only won 20 something games in 09 I think? They turned out pretty well in a few short years. |
