there is no business or basketball reason for the Lakers to do that.....they could just convert his contract after the 45 days if they feel it is needed. They already have control of him, and can play him from day 1 if they choose. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." Thanks Bard that clears up my question.
Looks like up to 6 players can have Exhibit 10 in effect at any time, so it doesn't squeeze out Vander Blue just because Thomas Wear is getting signed with this in effect. |

Yes, we need Vander to look like DLO while sitting on the bench. It'll bring a calming presence to Laker fans who miss him dearly. Or stir some crap up. 😂😂😂 |

Yeah nvm the above comment - this signing isn't nearly as weird as I thought it was. |

for what its worth...will not surprise me if Caruso is converted by years end....not sure if that will come after a trade that opens up a spot or we simply waive a player....but it looks like his odds of finishing the year on the roster are at least even right now. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." Bogut can't get a two-way contract, as he played (much) more than 3 NBA seasons. _________________ We want Bonga! |

He's the 15th guy then right?
Lonzo, Ennis, KCP, JC, Hart, Brewer, BI, Kuzma, Deng, Randle, Nance, Bryant, Zubac, Lopez, Bogut
Then Caruso as 1st two-way
So that left Vander Blue, Zimmerman, Ware, Briante for 1 last contract |

Yes, except Bogut's contract is partially guaranteed and Zimmermann was already waived. _________________ We want Bonga! |

sounds like the Lakers are just giving him...probably $50K?....just to kind of keep him close to the organization with the SB Lakers. If not, I guess any G League team could pick him up. Maybe just appreciation for the last couple years, and keeping him close to home. I mean the guy is not garbage....he does some things well. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." Nothing official yet but that is the scuttlebutt (if/when they clear waivers).

I think he went 12/13 on the 3's that I saw him take today. Him & Thomas Bryant were in a shootout where both of them barely missed. |

seemed like he had a little versatility to his game also....if I recall, he was even playing some small ball #5 in SL....he is like 6'9"/6'10"....can knock down shots. I do not see any downside to giving him some cash and keeping a close eye on him. _________________ "To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one's thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one's mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality." Yeah that’s kind of what I mean by whatever. It’s not a bad whatever it’s just I don’t particularly understand the point of the signing but I don’t have a problem with it either. I liked him in summer league. |

This is a good low risk high reward signing, if he doesn’t do much when he gets PT we cut him and he goes back to the G-League, and if he turns into another Belenelli we add another sharpshooter to the roster. |

Regarding Vander, from what I understand, it would behoove him not to sign a two-way contract. Although they can potentially make way more than the standard G-League player, if the Lakers don't have the need they won't call him up and he won't make all the potential money. Also, as a two-way player he won't have the opportunity to get called up by other teams. He, as the MVP, is at the cusp of breaking into the L, so he shouldn't limit his opportunity to the Lakers who are already stocked with young talent at the guard position. His best shot was #15 which presumably will go to Bogut. |

So with shooters in such demand, no other team saw fit to keep or sign him. Not buying it, I hope this contract isn't guaranteed |
