But I'm really intrigued at what BI will be when his body fills out (if it does).

What skill does Ingram have that intrigues you? I cannot think of one thing he is even decent at.

More than skill, I love his length and bball IQ, things you can't really teach.
I just dont think his body is ready yet.

So his body is preventing him from making the right pass or making jumpers?

Randle is not going to get much better. Jury is still out on BI. Say if he puts on 20 lbs in a few yrs and fixes the jumper he could dominate. Also hes still on rookie contract.

Making jumpers is on him.
For the most part I think he makes a right pass. He gets in trouble when making passes in a crowd.

Are you not curious to see his game when he's not easily pushed around?

I'd be interested in seeing how he performs if he wasn't being forced into a franchise leading role that he's not remotely ready for - and may never be. I think there's a strong chance that Ingram will end up being a solid 2nd or 3rd option for a good team. A guy that has a bunch of intangibles that impact games on a regular basis. If he is allowed to develop into his own player while being given strong guidance and training, I honestly doubt that results in him becoming the face of a franchise. And there's nothing wrong with that at all. However, if Magic insists on continuing to publicly pressure the kid into being something that he isn't, I hope it doesn't hurt him long term. We've seen it happen with several other young players over the years.

Which is key...I’m very interested in the type of contract Randle would command, I’m sure he’s paying attention to what Wiggins and Embiid just got paid. I’ve been impressed with his play lately tho, I really like him in the 6th man role.

There's no comparison between these two. Their positions , where they were drafted and expectations are all different. But if I had to pick one I'd keep Randle because he's shown more.

Depends on what you think Ingram will become and WHEN he'll get there.

As well as how much more you think Randle would become.

I guess look at it this way if we're going to go from that perspective.

If both had a reliable jump shot

Who would be the better player?

Both if you get the right return.....I mean that's the real answer isn't it?

I mean if the Lakers were offered....I dunno say an Anthony Davis type player who wouldn't move either or both of them for that?

Again just hypothetical, only using Davis just as an example could be any similar all star level talent type player

C - Lopez
PF - Davis
SF - Kuzma
SG - KCP
PG - Ball

Wow what a team!

So yeah depending if the Lakers could get something that was a real game changer, the answer for the right price, sure.

Randle is obviously the better player so far, but it would be tough to choose him imo because he's about to be up for a new deal. He's shown improvement, but I don't think he's worth a big, long term contract.

Tough one.

I think Ingram has a higher ceiling, but a lower floor.

Meanwhile, Julius Rande is the safer pick.

How can you know Randle won't improve? He is only 22 and only has 2 seasons of playing under his belt. It took Kawhi Leonard 3 full years before he broke out, it took Draymond Green 4 years. PG 13 needed to full seasons then improved in season 3 and 4 signficantly. Westbrook took 2 full seasons.

I think it is more the rule that players take 2 to 4 years before they reach maturity and even then they usually continue to improve after hitting a high level of performance. Even Curry scored in the teens during his first 2 years and he came out after at least 3 years of college.

To say Randle won't improve is pure speculation and is inconsistent with how other star player have developed.

Ideally both. Randle is clearly the better player but he's also due for a big pay raise while Ingram will be cost-controlled for a few more years and arguably has more upside. That makes Ingram the choice if you really have to pick (and we likely do with the two max plan) unless we cash in on his cheap contract and upside to bring in a star.

Randle's the safer pick, I guess, since he's proven he can be a reasonably productive NBA player, something Ingram's yet to do.

Still, I'm shooting for the stars and sticking with Brandon Ingram living up to his superstar potential.

I'm indifferent about these two.

Ingram is nothing more than a question mark -- he has to show a lot more before I even care that he's on the team.

Randle has some solid skills, but he's still a below average starting PF.

So Ingram is struggling to show he can stick in the league; Randle is struggling to hang onto his starting job.

This should be the poll. JC vs. JR.

BI needs to go to the bench and get stronger before he is anointed the chosen one but we shouldn't give up on him now.

As far as JC vs. JR, I hate to say it but I have to say keep JC. We don't have much to go with for SG since we are not resigning KCP. For PF, we have Kuz, Nance, and BI (if needed) to play the PF spot.

JC doesn't impress me. He's had three full years in the league with zero improvement. He's a terrible defender with no playmaking skills. He's nothing more than a gunner with no 3-point shot.

I don't think Ingram necessarily has "superstar" potential.

There was nothing in college or the NBA thus far that points to that direction.

Lakers do him and themselves no favors by treating him like one now either.

Got no problem with trading either or both of them, I think Lonzo and Kuzma are the real keepers as of now, but I prefer Randle over Ingram.

And his IQ thinks it is a good idea to drive against Gobert? Single dumbest play of the game.

I’d keep BI over July just on potential alone.
We already know what Julz is capable of without listing the pros and cons.

BI is in his 2nd year and still growing into his frame, but his skill set is way better than Randles. JR is due for an extension and I personally don’t think he’s worth that kind of money, especially with Kuzma’s emergence as a legit versatile 4 for us.

It really is that simple.. He's not strong enough to do the things the coaching staff wants him to do.

Yep. He's not a spot up shooter, where his body wouldn't matter as much...he wants to slash and cut and draw contact at like 180 lbs, if that's his game it's gonna be a while. He has a ton of talent, seems like a good dude and a hard worker...it'll eventually all come together.

If Ingram put up 54.3% TS% this season that'd be amazing though
