But he's still only shooting 34 and 32% so far and getting no defensive stats. I think Jackson's been more impressive (although I couldn't watch the actual games).

Do the Suns never televise their preseason games or something? I want to watch Jackson.

they have been streaming them live on the Facebook page. I have watched the last few games...actually think I have watched all 4 of them. He is playing a little out of control...but putting up numbers....last night 22 Points / 7 Rebounds / 2 Assists / 1 Block.

In the preseason 15.3 PPG / 5.5 RPG / 1.3 APG / 1 BPG -- 47% FG% & 46% 3P% ...he has been impressive.

Dillon Brooks, Jawun Evans, and especially Jordan Bell look like second round steals so far.

Josh Jackson looks like a damn god in his highlights. He gets so much rhythm in his jumper from that hitch, lol. 46% WOOOOF

I have to see how he shoots when defenses play him like he can shoot, though. That wasted motion might take up too much time(while also being low).

My post-preseason read is that Simmons, Lonzo, and DSJ (if he’s in fact given the keys to the team) are probably the three most likely candidates. I’d give Simmons the edge though.

After that, you have Jackson, Monk, Mitchell, and Fox all with very legitimate shots at it too. Not quite ready to put Kuz in this category, but if he keeps his level of play this high and Luke gives him PT, he’d belong here.

Then there’s Tatum and Fultz. Tatum is a fine player, but won’t get enough opportunity on a team that’s probably going to the ECF. And then Fultz.. After the draft I would have had him as the favorite, but he’s Flat out looked bad in SPL and PS. I don’t even really know what to make of him right now. Hope he gets it together soon.

his misses are still really off....like not close many times.....still, his biggest problem this year is going to be learning to play with control. Every game he has played in Pre Season, he has had multiple offensive fouls and out of control TO's....very reminiscent of Randle early in his career. I still see the potential for an extremely special player.

The Bulls dude...Lauri Markkanen...looks by far the best and most polished out of all rookies to me. He will be a dominant player.
Everyone else I find has either physical limitations or they're not quite there in their skillset is missing but Markkanen has it all.

I mean, a SG/SF version of Randle but with elite defense is a heck of a player.

with Hayward out, Tatum will get more opportunity and will probably be in serious contention for ROY

Oh absolutely. What happened to Hayward was terrible... it's going to open up a lot of minutes to one hell of a player in Tatum. I think he can seriously win it

Hate to say this, but Tatum looked pretty good last night. Granted it was only ONE game in.

Donovan Mitchell is going to make some noise this season.

Love him. He was 60-1 for ROY at one point. That's worth laying $20 on. It's probably gone down though.

So many rookies looking good. Hard to imagine Simmons won't win ROY though, with the size and speed and skills. Guess we'll see what Lonzo can do.

can't win ROY without a jersey....

Welcome to the NBA, rookie: Jonathan Isaac forgets to wear Magic jersey in debut

Quote:
He's fortunate he didn't start though, because he would have pulled off his warmup hoodie to reveal no jersey underneath. Isaac was so nervous about his first game that he forgot his jersey in the locker room.

Can we make an official 2017-18 Rookie's thread?

Josh Jackson can legit make open/semi-open 3s, solid in midrange too. he's going to be one of the best 3/D players in the league one day.

This draft is really good.

Simmons with 13/6/5 in the 1st half against the Pistons tonight. Given his physical maturity, I think he builds up an early lead in the ROY race even if some younger guys catch up to him as the season progresses.
