I'm glad we won that, both Zo and BI looked much more relaxed tonight. Brewer was a beast defending tonight, to me he gets the game ball.
Only negative really was Randle, dude was straight garbage....ennis was poor too. Everybody else was giving great effort and showed a lot of fight.
Even with that stat line, it didn't feel like ZO had an amazing game...he's gonna be really really good. |

Lakers will be in a position to lock him up for the next 14 years given the structure of the CBA. |
If you're talking about Randle, then I hope you have a really dark sense of humor lol. |
I meant Lonzo, but for Julius. |

Agreed - I think Scott Foster was there - one of the worst. I think he called that foul against Lonzo with a second left in the game. Not only was it not a foul, you dont call that in the final seconds. Foster also initiated a review of an obvious play with 3 seconds to go that basically gave the Suns a free time out. |
Yep get better at your job Mr. Foster or get fired, I'm cool with either one |
They'll never fire him, he does exactly what the league wants. |

Rightfully so, if JR was on that last play instead of Nance, he would have fouled cause of his short arms.
Kuz and Nance > Randle IMO. |

Things going this way, Randle will shortly become our 3rd stringer PF.
The sooner we'll trade him, the better for all parts involved. |

Lakers shot 51.1% from the field, 46.2 from beyond the arc and 72% from the line. |

BI needs to shoot like he did today. His game yesterday looked horrible because he was missing some decent looks. |

Luke Walton said Corey Brewer really set the tone tonight, "energized the entire group." |
So now Brewer goes back to the bench with KCP back. Hopefully KCP can be a spark defensively. |

I’ll be worried if Ball needs to play 38 mpg. He looked gassed. |

The hope will be that KCP can do what Brewer did today, but with decent three shooting and pick and roll play. |

good win, helped build chemistry after Ball missing most of the preseason
but, this was a game we should really win against a slightly weaker team |
True, but mainly it's nice to see a potential confidence building game for BI and a sign of what's to come from Kuzma and Ball. |
We play the Suns on 11/13 and 11/17, with the 76'rs in between.
hopefully, they'll build on this game and be able to use those next 2 Suns games to work out a lot of kinks and get their chemistry/timing together. We had so many missed preseason games by key players that they need some easy ones.
I'll take any advantage we can get _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

Definitely think Brewer earned his minutes the rest of the season. Kinda 😞 he’s more of a contributor than Deng’s worthless bum. DNP second game of the season is just bad. |

KCP will definitely bring it on defensively ALL game, each game! Unfortunately his trey isn't so dependable. _________________ Starting Lakers Dynasty6.0! NOW!!

He has the talent for another style of play. Just don’t see it with this offense. |

But this team could really use the confidence boost of a few wins to start the season before the murderer's row of December. |

I am not a Corey Brewer fan. He plays decent D at times as he did tonight, but is terrible on offense. Cant make a 3 to save his life!
KCP is more consistent on D and can shoot some, so Brewer wont play much IMO.
As for Randle, hes destined to play less and less as KK takes his minutes. I would be surprised if the lakers dont try and move him in the next 2 months. |

Agree with the board. Lonzo and Ingram looked very good.
Brewer showed a lot of energy.
Nance, Kuzma, Lopez looked good.
Randles game doesn't seem to fit with running Lakers. |

Finally got to watch a replay of the first three quarters, in addition to the final quarter I saw live last night.
We won an away game, first of all. That's always a plus. The final score ended up closer than it had to be, but the Suns dined on some magnificently prepared home cooking by Scott Foster to make for such a close ending. The Lakers were clearly better than Phoenix on the Suns' home court this game. Phoenix was barely hanging on and needed some lucky calls to make it close. Had it gone overtime, I think the Lakers would have pushed it up to a 10 point margin quickly, with a Lonzo triple double/mid 30's point total, and the Lakers would have won handily.
We've now seen what the Lakers can look like on a bad night against a lower tier playoff bound team, and we've seen what the Lakers can look like on a good night against a weaker opponent, both games without our starting SG. We might feel a little too high right now considering it was only the Phoenix Suns we beat, but by the same token a lot of us, me in particular, were WAY too down on this team after the opening night loss to the Clippers.
Yeah yeah Phoenix is crappy, but on opening night the Clippers defense left the Lakers with a ton of wide open shots too. Their Clippers defense didn't make Ingram, Ball, Kuzma and others miss wide open 3's. This is what it's like when Ingram is dangerous from outside. Finally we get to see this. This is what it's like when Lonzo turns dangerous from outside. As soon as this happens, both players become dangerous all the way to the basket because the defenders can't sleep on them. This is what it's like when we replace Deng with Brewer, and turn the heat up on defense. Now we get KCP back, and he'll scrap on defense too. Now we've also seen that Kuzma is good enough alongside Lonzo against NBA pros that, once again, Summer League was no fluke. And we now know there's no reason for Deng to see the floor, ever, unless we're up by 20 and running out the clock.
If Lonzo, Ingram, Nance, Clarkson, Kuzma, Brewer, and Lopez can play like this in the second game of the season against Phoenix, there's no reason they can't play the game the right way, hit open shots when the defense dares them to do so, and make life tougher against better teams later this season. |
