Brett Brown says that right now Jahlil Okafor is out of the rotation completely and it's Amir Johnson's spot to lose. #Sixers

Philadelphia 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor is currently out of the playing rotation for the team, according to head coach Brett Brown.

Okafor, 21, has lost significant playing time because veteran Amir Johnson is now the backup center for the team. Joel Embiid, who signed a huge contract extension to remain with Philadelphia, has a minute restriction but is still the starter for the Sixers.

Even though he was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Okafor has played just one of four games for his team this season. During that sole appearance, he recorded three personal fouls in less than three minutes.

So many people here were convinced that he would be the next Tim Duncan.

Okafor and Mudiay are on a downward spiral. Needs to improve considerably to stay in the league after few years.

Deng's out of our rotation; Okafor is out of there's.

Let's swap.

(And then we can cut Oak this summer and save cap space).

I want to see him on the Spurs. Maybe Pop can make something out of him.

I can see that happening. Maybe a 3rd big behind LMA/Pau.

This is weird.

He came into camp in great shape, having lost 20 pounds.

He played one game and in 22 minutes put up 10-9 and 2 blocks.

He would complete Pop's experiment to turn the Spurs into a successful 1990s team in the era of pace and space.

As long as Embiid's on minutes restriction and always on potential season ending injury risk, I don't see the Sixers just giving him away.

I think they have been trying to get a late 1st or multiple 2nd rounders for him. No takers so far. Key deadline is whether the team picks up his option. (IIRC end of October).

We can't have four centers, give them Bogut too...

I wish DLo were still around, just to revel in the schadenfreude of the Okafor jockers.

Yeah, many of us have been calling him trash since he was a rookie. It was the anti-analytics crowd proudly displaying their ignorance when defending Okafor. I wonder where they are now.

Before their second season started SAS and Chuck were bashing Lakers for selecting DLo over Okafor. Both thought Okafor was special looking at PPG in rookie season lol.

Yeah, the reality is that the fact that he scored so many points and was still literally the worst player in the league per RPM/RAPM was a major red flag. At least if a player is struggling, you can see their avenue for improvement. With Jah, he started decently and yet was the least valuable player in the entire league.

That's damning. But that's a little bit more nuanced for the 17 PPG!!!! crowd.

It came down primarily too the fact that he was a post player and they looked similar. It's the same thing people did with Ingram and KD.

It's lunacy.

And KAT is far closer to Tim Duncan than Okafor.

Okafor was the last great hope for the 90s basketball nostalgists, and then KAT, Turner, and Porzingis came out of the same draft, Jokic arrived stateside, and Embiid finally hit the floor a year later, and everyone realized what truly talented "modern" big men looked like.

I 100% believe he can have some level of success somewhere else....I refuse to believe someone so offensively gifted, even if it is in a traditional low post mold of the 80's & 90's, cannot be beneficial to some team in the NBA.

Kanter. Monroe. That’s hopefully where big Oak can get to.
