That's funny I don't remember getting one when Kobe went down

How unlikely would it be that Magic Johnson of all people would deal with the Celtics, but now that they have the trade exception and a need for a forward, do we have a potential landing spot for Luol Deng?

Deng's contract is too big to fit into that exception, but I doubt they'd want him anyway

What about if we sent them Clarkson and they sent us Smart

That would make it fit

Makes our 2nd unit a defensive stalward too if we utilize Hart.

Starters:
Lonzo Ball
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Brandon Ingram
Julius Randle
Brook Lopez

Bench:
Marcus Smart
Josh Hart
Corey Brewer
Kyle Kuzma
Larry Nance Jr / Zubac / Bogut

There you go.

Can you stack an exception with a player?

This has nothing to do with the Lakers, if Boston plans to use there large exception they will do it to get someone who can actually make a difference.

What does this have to do with the Lakers?

And Kobe went down with a few games to go.

Having reportedly gained a DPE, who could Celtics sign to replace Gordon Hayward?

Quote:
Trade options
Corey Brewer: This is the last year of Brewer's contract, which fits the DPE rules on trading for players, and the Lakers have little use for him on their rebuilding squad -- especially with the emergence of Kyle Kuzma. Plus, his salary fits into the exception.

Brewer seems like the kind of vet presence you want on a young team. He reportedly competes hard in every practice which helps set the tone.

I thought I was in the General forum for a moment

And yes there's a difference between getting hurt on opening day vs near the end of the season.

You can't combine exceptions with players and JC, making 12.5 millions, can't fit in the DPE.

The injury exception has a lot of restrictions to it. It cannot be combined with other players. If you use it for a trade, the player has to be in the last year his contract.

There is a cutoff for when you can seek this exception. I believe it’s in January. Anyway, by the time Kobe got hurt, the trade deadline was long gone. We could not have made a trade, and the exception does not carry over to the next season.

We did get this exception for both Nash and Randle.

Someone needs to be a Danny Ainge impersonator for a day and have him trade the exception along with the Sixers 2018 pick he got at the draft for Luol Deng.
