Young Guys - Making Effort, can't shoot
Older Guys - Not as much effort, can't shoot
Coach - Scared to try what is the most obvious starting lineup because Magic talked up ingram too much in the offseason

Defense - Improved
Offense - Improved but we can't shoot
Utah = Great Defense
Game = Loss

Hope everything is ok DB

Here is my ""lite" version of a review and ratings:

My take: back to back games last year tough for this team. Thought they were competitive today, but with some lapses that you'd expect from a young team. Shooting was 💩- pretty much the sole bright spot on offense from starters was ingram. For the bench it was clarkson.

Lonzo:😫 Probably his worst game so far. Aside from warming up from Long distance (3-6), this just felt like his least impactful game. I chalk it up to back to back games.

Brandon Ingram:😊😮 More ups than downs in this one. Finished with 16 points on 7-14 shooting including some nice moves to the basket. His defense and contributions to other areas was inconsistent: exemplified by a -24 +/-.

Larry Nance:😐Had some nice defense sequences...and some bad ones. Limited impact on offense but did get 10 rebounds.

Brook Lopez:💩😫 just...no. Bad game all around.

KCP: 💩😱😫 2-11 shooting and defensively seemed confused at times.

Jordan Clarkson:👍🏾. Gave the lakers the scoring boost off the bench they needed with 7-12 and was active defensively. Solid game.

Kyle kuzma:🤓 Ok game from him. 4-10 from the field but was inconsistent during the game with his defense at times.

Josh Hart:👍🏾Solid game defensively. Caused issues for guys he guarded including an unforced turnover. +7 when he played.

Julius Randle:😎 Foul trouble limited his impact. Made some bad decisions when under the basket and surrounded by defenders a couple times (pass?) but otherwise was impactful on the glass and defensively.

Luke: gets a double serving of 💩💩. Made some strange substitutions with his bigs and not playing the hot hands appropriately tonight: once again subbed out in the 4th the squad leading the charge with the starters and the jazz lead ballooned.

If you can't shoot against Gobert, you're in trouble...

Another lesson at the NBA’s School of Hardd Knocks

Telling commentator observation

The Jazz were getting clean lookswhile most of Lakers’ shots were contested. Hopefully as the Lakers learn the offensive sets, they will get more uncontested shots in the future

How will Luke maximizes the offensive talents of Brook Lopez

Lots of good tape for the team to look at from this one. Defensively they competed. They let disappointment in their offensive struggles impact their effort for a couple stretches as young teams tend to do. Offensively they didn't get many passes per possession in this one as I imagine the Jazz pressure and Rudy closing off the paint impacted their decisions. Didn't make the defense pay for Gobert sitting in the paint and we got stinker games from Brook and KCP.

We've seen now with the Clippers and Jazz that LA really struggles when the opposition has an elite anchor and good defensive point.

I said before the game in the game thread that this was likely to be an easy Utah win, and sad to say I wasn't wrong. Third game in four nights on the second night of a back to back against a team that lost two in a row and wanted a win at home. Just disappointing to see how anemic our offense is and how pathetic our shooting is. It's also really hard to give Luke the benefit of the doubt right after he destroyed our chances of winning against Toronto last night with his idiotic lineup changes. We needed to maximize our chances of winning at home against Toronto precisely because the Utah game was going to be nearly impossible to win and it was infuriating to see Luke apparently not get that.

Yup, you summed up my thoughts as well. Luke has been switching up line ups during the game but he's struggling just as much as the players to make good decisions. Randle coming off the bench seems to have sparked him lately and I think that would be a good move for Ingram right now. You can just tell BI is putting too much pressure on himself every time he gets the ball. Not quite ready for prime time.

This game was not enjoyable to watch. Oh well, on to the next.

Care to elaborate? You would rather play Kuzma who plays with a greenlight in his mind but simply is NOT hitting that shot right now? Ingram may have ups and downs, but need you forget we don't beat Washington without him carrying us through the entire fourth. Fact is, the team is young and in need of seasoning and for Brook to get back to the player we traded for. Has nothing to do with Luke being scared to not play someone seeing as how he benched the entire starting unit.
