Great reading if you hate the Clippers.

wow, depressing indeed. They had 2 MVP candidate level players, 1 DPOY level, a COY level and a 6th MOY level player and couldn't pull it off

I agree with Gov. Set aside the fact that it’s the Clippers for the moment. That was a squad that should have accomplished. . . something. I never thought that they were serious title contenders, but they should have made a least one good playoff run. Instead, their legacy is blown leads and inexplicable collapses.

But whatever, it’s the Clippers.

Probably Doc was the key mistake here. He got over his head in trying to nail down both jobs, GM and HC. That was a dumb idea, plain dumb for the franchise stumbling its way from the Sterling years. Scarcely anyone outside the Clipper organization couldn't see the trouble coming on day one.

Doc should have never traded Eric Bledsoe. He "downtraded" talent for skill, and went away from what the Clippers identity was with their transition game.

The one fatal flaw was letting Doc Rivers make personnel decisions. With West in the fold, the FO is already being rebuilt and they should see results from that in the next few years. Like it or not, the first domino to fall needs to be letting Jordan go elsewhere.

This is the most accurate thing I've read today. Rivers is impulsive and his opinions seem to change as much as the wind direction on any given day.

Man that was a sad read. Not because it involves the Clippers failing but because it didn't end with them moving to another city.

I think if that were to happen they would have to change the name of the team, erase all links to the Clippers past in LA, San Diego, and Buffalo. It will probably be the only way to get a fresh start.

Word is that there is trouble agreeing to an extension since both sides have different numbers in mind. Blake might be the only one left next year from their big 3 core.

Not only that, but the roster was also fatally flawed. They let go of a lot of talented role players. They used to be one of the deepest and most talented teams around 2014 or so, but after that they were thin and top heavy. Outside of CP3, that team was mentally weak and full of guys who were unable and unwilling to make plays under extreme pressure. Plus the supposed rift between CP3 and Blake didn't exactly help.

If I were Logo I would've let Blake leave. He's injury prone and he's not a true go to guy. That team will be stuck in NBA purgatory for years unless they get lucky and somehow sign a big FA next summer.

I do not agree that they were anything that short of potential.
How many superstars did they have? CP3 and a promissing Blake.

I'd say they were the 2010s Sonics without a trip to the Finals, but also without the Mutombo massacre.
Exciting to watch!!! Will never forget the dunks!!

But one thing is worth a second thought. CP3.
I saw some of the atrocious Q4 meltdowns.
What I recall is:
- 20 second possessions with the ball in his hands
- Offense stagnant, no movement
- CP3 fall back J in front of huge extended arm
- Clang

One would suspect CP3 gets paid on the amont of dribbles he makes. He is reckoned to be floor leader. To me instead of a General, he looks like some sergeant, wanting to assume all leadership, but no solutions. Then they all de bravely at his command.

Did anyone notice the clips survived without him? That even assist-dependent Jordan got his points anyway?

Who was their best wing defender? Barnes? Mbah a Moute? Until they fixed that problem they were a huge underdog to ever beat a Lebron team. Durant was another huge problem for them.

Even when they got close to the conference finals I never felt they had much of a chance in those series. They might have just ended up like Memphis when Memphis did finally get that far. They were swept by the Spurs.

Seattle Clippers (sounds like the kid that would get bullied)

Giving a glorified towel-waver like Doc Rivers that much power was a huge mistake. He won in Boston because he had some great assistant coaches on staff. He traded for his son and created resentment among the players that resulted in a diversion that the team didn't need.

Is it even more accurate to say that Durant with the Warriors is a huge problem for most teams, if not everyone ? Probably.

I think Luc was the Clips most versatile and complete defender during his time there. He stands just short of 6-6 barefoot and has very good arm length, good quickness, excellent timing. He maintains remarkable defensive spacing, but all that said - Durant is going to shoot right over top of him most every time. Quicker, longer, taller, faster.

Who has a defensive genius to contain or reduce Durant ? Probably no one, but I reckon that Hollis-Jefferson or AD do as well as anyone has the past couple seasons.

Absolutely agree. Most overrated coach in NBA history. Hands down.

Fine with me.

Seattle SuperSonics is a great nickname. I hear it's available.

Their starting line-up vs. the Spurs last night:
Griffin, Jordan, Wes Johnson, Beverley and Rivers

As Ralph Lawler would say...Yikes!!

That's a borderline playoff starting group.
Blake goes down (which seems inevitable), and boom...hello lottery.

They have been reduced to a bunch pathetic grown men trying to humiliate a quiet pimply-faced 19 year old. I hope they enjoyed game 1 because that was the highlight of their season.
