There's a lot of facebook posting, sadly some from my friends/colleagues stating that the shooter got into US under visa lottery designed by Chuck Schumer (of course the postings got ugly from that point)... this is false. My family is a receipient of this visa, it started with President George H.W. Bush and Sen. D'Amato (The NY senator at the time) in 1990, this visa is granted for applicants from countries with low number of immigration to US... has nothing to do with religion, has nothing to do with Republican vs Democrat. Just wanna put it out there

Diversity Visa
- Diversity visas are available to individuals who live in countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
- They are granted via a lottery system.
- The countries eligible for diversity visas are grouped into six regions.
- An individual who lives in a country not included in the diversity program may qualify for the lottery if his or her spouse was born in one of the eligible countries.
- Diversity visa applicants must have a high school education or at least two years of qualifying work experience.
- In 2016, 45,664 DV visas were issued.

I think Schumer was a co-sponsor of the bill in the House at that time. So he had something to do with it. But that doesn't change the fact that Trump is an ass, looking for political gain.

Some much more so than others, depending on when.
