I only used powder in college since then Liquid.
However I sometimes wonder if Liquid is really that effective anymore. |

Cant remember the last time I bought powder detergent. I like the liquid because its more convenient + less messy... dont have to deal with detergent granules getting all over the place. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

For me I'm considering going back to powder again because liquid seems to have this mildewy smell it could be the machine but I wonder what I'm doing wrong here. |

Are you talking about the machine?
Or the clothes?
If it's the machine, theres a simple explanation which is that front loaders tend to stink if you keep the door closed after washing. Leave it ajar. |

I've never used liquid detergent unless I stayed at a hotel or cabin and had no choice. Powder only. My clothes are always so fresh and so clean clean.
That mildewy smell is from leaving them in there too long. Happens to me sometimes when I get busy and forget to take them out right away. |

I usually get them out of the washer right after I'm done.
Someone else suggested to me you should put detergent in twice once during pre soak and then another time during the main wash and it should go away.
I didn't think to keep it ajar after the wash |

I would go with whatever is recommended by the Manufacturer, believe it or not but they test their machines with both and tell the consumer what has the best results.
I have a top of the line LG front load machine and use Tide Liquid SE detergent... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

I use liquid because I don't like having to dissolve powders. If they don't dissolve properly they stain your clothing. Has anyone tried pods? Tide pods supposedly have stain removers and a brightener. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The flip top detergent box with the scoop is an example of a new/improved concept adopted by the whole industry that was worse than what it replaced (the cereal box shaped boxes of yore). When was that, mid 90s, they all switched at the same time. They apparently didn't figure that you now have a box of powder that's completely open and ready to knock over instead of one that's only open at the top left corner.
It's like the tearaway Nike NBA uniforms with corporate sponsor logos. Just another new kind of inferior packaging. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

I used to like Freshen Up gum with the liquid centers. Those were the Tide Pods of gum.

I use Pods exclusively because I was a lazy college student and that's carried on. I think they work fine, but I'm not going to pretend like I can tell the difference. I'm not much of a clothes guy. |

I never got to try those.
In 5th grade I had this road trip activities book which included 3 classic board games, with these cylindrical red and blue silicone game pieces. I had to throw it all away because my temptation to chomp the damned things in half was stronger than it should've been and that scared me. _________________ "All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers."

the Tide and ALL pods that are specifically labeled to fight odors work very well....adding the Downy Unstopables also work pretty well. Also, always use fabric softener and "good" dryer sheets (those generic ones never work as good). |

Liquid + Tide Pods or Gain Flings as a booster.
I also keep a box of Borax on hand and throw in a scoop for my towels and bathroom rugs. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

Would that much detergent call for a extra rinse? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I've never had an issue. I cost the bottom of my washer with 1/2 cap, throw in the garments, put the other 1/2 on top, and throw in a pod. For the heavy stuff like bath rugs and towels, I add a scoop of borax.
The key to always clean and well-rinsed laundry??? DON'T OVERLOAD your washer. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |
