Ganguli tweeted out the wrong information originally. I hadn't seen her follow-up until now.

Quote:
Larry Nance Jr. broke his thumb on his left hand, the x-rays showed.

Quote:
Small correction on location of Larry Nance Jr.'s fracture. Lakers say it's 2nd metacarpal, not 1st. So that's in the hand, but not thumb.

Playing basketball with a broken finger is terrible nonetheless. This isn't Ronnie Lott cutting off his finger because he only needs to make tackles and deflect passes. It's crucial for Nance to be able to grip the ball for dunks/passes. Anyone acting like he, or other basketball players at large, are "soft" because they need to allow their hand to heal might as well be yelling at clouds.

I agree with you. I think it's ridiculous to play with a broken finger. Only Kobe can do it cuz he's inhuman.

Everyone jokes that Kawhi is a robot, but Kobe is legitimately one. Doesn't flinch when Matt Barnes fakes a ball into his face at a centimeter away. Shoots two free throws after rupturing his achilles. How in the hell?

Nance broke the part of his hand that'[s vital for holding a ball. Which is vital to as basketball player.

Averages 29/6/5.5 in the playoffs en route to a Finals MVP... with busted fingers

Sorry for being off topic with Kobe talk, but can you guys imagine what he would have been like without those injuries?

There's no reason at all for him to play through this broken finger right now. Just take care of it and come back later on.

Tough loss for the team. But this can't be the reason we don't make the playoffs. We have enough pieces to hold down the fort.

Luke's quote....

Quote:
"Obviously he fractured his hand. I have no idea how long that takes," Walton said. "When we get all that information, we will sit down. ... I have always been a believer that it's not just the next best player. How does it affect second units? How does that affect the starting unit, and what we are trying to do? There are a lot of variables to decide between, so we will figure that out in the next day."

sounds to me like Deng will be starting

Anytime Nance gets rolling he gets hurt. Then when he comes back he isn't the same. Not expecting much from Nance for a long while.

La Mamba Negra was a beast but that was finger fracture, Nance fracture the bone in his hand, without surgery prob 4-6 weeks in cast. This sucks

GD this hurts. Not just because LNJ is my favorite Laker but because I feel like he was the heartbeat of our defense. Seemed like we were in control of that game and then gave up the lead as soon as he went out. I thought the team was starting to take on his spirit defensively the way they were flying around the court last night. Bummer.

I'll be keeping an eye on our defense now without him.

it sucks he's such a good guy but the dude just can't stay healthy. At least it's not any kind of leg problem so he can stay in shape but every year he seems to get dinged up enough to miss a significant amount of games.

Play Randle and Kuz more. Randle can play PF/C and Kuz SF/PF. Play Ingram more. These guys need time. Luke seems to like large rotations but it makes it tough to develop.

Ball/JC
KCP/Hart
Ingram/Kuz
Randle/Kuz
Lopez/Randle

Give the kids some minutes Luke.

Well he plays like a China in a bull shop a lot of the time so he's more prone to injuries.

Anyone know roughly how long he will be out for most likely?

Yup. They've earned it and we need this.

I don’t know, Luke love to keep his 2nd unit (been one of the best in the league since he got here). Won’t be surprised to see Deng or even slide BI and put Hart/Brewer at the 3

Dr. Shaq said 8 weeks. Keep in mind it’s Dr. Shaq.
