Rams ranked #2 in this weeks NFL power rankings.

Quote:
Flying silently -- although never on Twitter -- is the work of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Broaching such hot topics as Medicare can only be surpassed by the performance of the defense he directs. That's why the Rams are so high. The upside of the defense means this team can get even better. After allowing 26.3 points per game over the first four contests of the season, the defense has shut the door, giving up a meager 11.0 ppg in the past three outings. Against the run, Phillips' unit is allowing 85.3 rush yards per game since Week 5. Before Week 5, that figure was at 151.2. Oh, and the defense is primarily responsible for winning the last two games, too.

Rams should win against the Giants, who rank 27th in defense and offense...

No rest after this game. We'll be playing all of the NFC division leaders over the next six games after NYG and HOU will be a tough game as well.

Go Rams!

Definitely nitpicking, but Rams kinda screwed up by not eating up more clock on their last possession.

Do you think he wins COY, or does it go to Peterson?

Looking the remaining schedule, worst case scenario they end up 10-6. They seem to play worse at home than on the road.

Seattle loses! What a great catch by the Redskins receiver to setup that last TD.

Teams with the same or better record than the Rams: Patriots, Steelers, Eagles, Vikings, Saints. Thats quite some company for a team whom a lot of people didn't even have in the playoffs.

You are correct, I skimmed the article and mistakened Vermeil for Martz.

Eagles v. Rams in a few weeks looks to be quite the showdown if the 2 teams keep up their current play. I'm thinking it gets flexed to Sunday night. I need to catch another game at the Coliseum now that its (hopefully) not going to be hot as hell.

Same. Still have yet to see my friend on the sidelines (outside of on TV).

I'm still amazed at how much better Sean McVay is than Jeff Fisher, and Sean is the youngest NFL coach of all time too.. this team has major potential for this season and years to come

Looks like Malcolm Brown might out for awhile after injuring his MCL last Sunday.

I don't if Dunbar is going to be activated but I'd like to see Justin Davis get a few downs in. Austin and Dunbar are both good receivers out of the backfield but Davis seems like the only real runner. Hate to see Gurley II have to do all the ground work himself now.

And Robert Woods, though he might be a reliable vet, is not a difference-making talent. This is all scheme and coaching, and it's not like Watkins is doing much (he's drawn absolutely brutal matchups with #1 CB's). The centerpiece RB this year was the centerpiece RB last year, as well.

McVay has been an absolute dream hire.

I think Whitworth has absolutely made a big difference on the line and a bigger impact than you suggest. Look at what Cincy has been without him. Look at what Detroit's line has been with the Rams' former LT. Putting in a solid veteran who's finally healthy in C John Sullivan also helps. McVay's done a good job with the offense, but all the offensive wizardry will never work if the line doesn't block.

Greg Robinson waived by the Lions yesterday.

With good reason. He was absolutely terrible. Even opponents players were calling him out. The minute he got injured, the offense prospered.

It looks like rwongega's point about Whitworth has proven to be a really apt one. Whitworth is making a world of difference for the Rams, and Cincy can't run the ball at all. Not even since Mixon became the primary ball-carrier; he's only averaging 2.9 YPC.

Thanks man. Definitely the best FA acquisition so far IMO. He's doing his job and acting like a 2nd OL coach in there. Rams do have to look for the future though considering Whitworth's age.
