Heartbreaking. I used to get tickets right behind the Lakers bench once per year back in those days, and one of the things that I remember is that Lamar seemed to be the most popular guy on the team. He made everyone light up a bit. It's such a shame that he's such a tortured soul.

I think the structure and discipline of being on a team as a player helped give him a sense of ... purpose.

Now, he just seems lost.

Does he really want to get in to coaching? Stay away from the nightclubs. Grow up Lamar, you're almost 40.

Tomorrow is his 38th birthday.

A shame he didn't think he could celebrate this while sober.

I agree with others his kids should be enough of a reason but they clearly aren't so its hard to be sympathetic yet I admittedly am considering all the tragedy he's gone through.

Sad.

I have a friend who just completed 30 days in rehab, I’m hoping he can stay sober but I know that road is long and hard.

Wishing nothing but the best for Lamar, overcoming demons isn’t easy and often can’t be done alone.

nope. He wanted a coaching job with LAL, and attended a few practices, but wasn't hired

you might be thinking of Ron Artest, who was hired as a coach for the G-league team

I hate to say this, but I don't see him getting past 40. Millions of dollars, people who like him, yet can't find a way to be happy without drugs. F those Kardashians. Ruined a man.

I hope that Lamar's health isn't in danger, and he makes a full/speedy recovery. Also, I'll wait till more info comes out, in relation to this recent collapse, before rushing to judgement. I sincerely hope it's not due to a relapse back to drug use. Good luck, Lamar!

LO playing a ceremonial game won't change all the personal demons he's facing. In fact it will probably give him false hope.

God speed, LO. Addiction is a lifelong demon that's hard to escape, but even if you fall back, keep fighting and you can win in the end.

More like bad habits than bad luck. Nothing he did not do to himself.

Sad. Wish him luck.

Hoping it's just that he's been clean for the longest period of time in a long time... went out for his bday... had some drinks without realizing he's now a cheap drunk and passed out.

What an idiot. What does it take for some people to wake up and just stop drinking and doing drugs? I mean it's his life so do whatever I guess.
