I find it refreshing that Stu isn't a homer announcer. There are a LOT of homer announcers for other teams and it gets tiring to have to listen to the opposing teams broadcast crew game in, game out.
I will say that the opposing announcers are much kinder to the Lakers now that we have sucked ballz for 5ish years or so. Funny how that works - you suck long enough you don't get hated quite as much. Would rather continue the Lakers were very, very hated.
Yes, I love that Stu tells it like it is. Helps to edumacate. Seriously, helps to learn the game.
You want homers of the first order, come up here to Portland.
Rip City? No, HOMER City.
(Every time I hear the term “Rip City” it conjures up admittedly sophomoric remembrances of flatulence. Sorry, can’t help it... it’s a stoopid name.)
Yeah that one older announcer for Portland is one of the worst homer announcers. That dude has hated the Lakers so much for so long he can't see past the blazing flames of hate that burst in his head even thinking about the Lakers. There are a few others that simply just hate the Lakers. I get to listen to them all - it gets tiring to have to listen to them laughing at us sucking, etc. Now that Kobe is gone, and we have sucked for far too long, a lot of that hatred is muted, but still there. _________________ "Why do you think bad things happen, anyway???" Stu is kinda arrogant. He feels preseason games are beneath him or any nonplayoff game for that matter. It’s getting harder to listen to him when you’re trying to enjoy the game.

It ain’t news bulletin. The door on the upper concourse must be left opened (after someone airballed a shot). These were copied from chick Hearn word for word.

Yep, it just goes to show you that every yahoo has an opinion.

Yeah, no doubt there are a lot of snowflakes around that would be very offended at Chick's straight talk. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Stu really got on my last nerves last night first with INSISTING the ball came off Ingram's shoulder and then later when he was laughing and tearing down the comment that we have a better record than the Cavs now (which we do and I was glad it was mentioned)!! His reaction was a direct diss against the Lakers team....like it was such an absurd comparison!!
He's bothered me for years with his constant "correcting and/or disagreeing" and also always being so anxious to get the game over with so he can leave.
Yeah he absolutely hates his job and can't stand watching the Lakers. I guess doing anything long enough can get that way, but the money must be good because he won't retire. So tired of listening him complain about having to do his job and how it just won't end already. He also likes to be the direct opposite of a homer and play devils advocate on any call we might get for whatever reason.
I agree totally. He goes out of his way to insist most calls against us are correct...even when they aren't. It is very rare he'll disagree with a call against us but then he'll go on about how hard it is for them to do their job and get all the calls right.
I didn't change the font or size of my reply. Don't know why it's larger??
Lol come on. He praises the Lakers plenty. Just because he tries to be even keeled on calls means he doesn't like his job or the Lakers? That is pure homerism and ugly.
Some of the other team's announcers around the league who argue every call is their call is so annoying. I like that Stu doesn't try to be too into the Laker's pockets.
I'm fine with objectivity, but when you see the ball clearly go out on the other team and he keeps trying to say it's off on one of our players it's a little annoying. Especially when it's blatantly obvious and of course the refs end up agreeing how wrong he was. If you are going to skew so far one way, at least do it in favor of the team you are paid to watch.
Theres got to be a highly qualified person for this job? Its probably one of the more sought after play by play jobs out there right? These dudes are painful to listen to sometimes. I like Rick Fox as color commentator. As for the play by play job, maybe Al Michaels, Spero Dedes or somebody like that. The Clippers radio play by play guy is pretty good, he probably would be less expensive.
that type of back and forth has been the norm for stu and whomever is his main partner. maybe not that tense, but similar to it. _________________ Dominating every day.
I like Stu. Being a corny, outdated curmudgeon is part of his charm.
If he were charming, but he's not and that is a big part of the problem. The curmudgeon part has taken over completely and is tempered only by the arrogance and his death grip on tired old cliches.
But I could take the cliches if it were not for the arrogance and the contrariness. Those things, for me, make Stu most difficult to listen too.
He's just going through the motions now, in an annoying way.

Not from MT originally, but in the SW montana area now. Bozeman/Butte/Helena area (don't live in a town, kinda in the sticks a bit). _________________ "Why do you think bad things happen, anyway???" "So we have something good to look forward to."
He always says you can't jump stop off the dribble. No. You can't split step hop off the dribble.. this distinction has been a point of emphasis for a few years
