oh ho boy... not one pair of sunglasses but multiple stores and caught on video? and all high end stores? IN CHINA???!!! of all places? If all 3 were stealing at each store this could easily reach $10K+ in thefts.

Midnight Express II... hope they like tea... or they could take say, 50 lashes each?

So who pays for the luxury hotel that the 3 players are staying in until this all clears up? UCLA?

All meals included? Room service?

What if they're there for over a month? Hangzhou Hyatt Regency w/ food included could be $200+ a night for 1 room. Usually the most beds in a room is 2. There's 3 players, so maybe 2 rooms for 3 players.

$200 x 2= $400+ a night x 30 days = $12,000

Who picks up that bill?

Lonzo I don't know about the other parents but LaVar is milking that Lonzo money for all it's worth. That little bastard got a Lambo recently, you think LaVar spent the money from his appearances on wrestling etc. to pay for it?

The most ominous part of this is now it's being revealed they hit multiple stores - which implies... at least one of these kids has probably done this before in the states. Gee... I wonder which kid that is? Who was the ringleader? because that's how it usually works in these situations. It probably wouldn't be that hard for some high end shops back here to review the tapes of LiAngelo visiting their stores for the past year? If he wiggles out of this somehow he still might be looking at fresh new charges in the states when he gets back.

man, if I was a political adviser to the White House.....I would advise the president to get involved to get them home. It would be fairly easy....and a lot of good press from demographics that he polls extremely low in....West Coast, under 24, minority groups....and it never hurts to have big mouth Lavar thanking you!

Yes, that is political...but not partisan. If I was someone that wanted to hold statewide office in CA, I would also see if I could help....I am sure there is a ton of business between CA and China.

I think there may be some backlash about helping some shoplifters when there has been criticism about the lack of attention to some of the victims of national disasters, etc.

What store would pay someone to sit there and review one years worth of video?

And what's the benefit of doing that?

And what store keeps a list of customers who have frequented their store within the past year?

There's been no confirmation from any named source of the multiple offenses, nor even that multiple stores were involved. Let's remember ESPN's Markazi was not there in China and has not revealed a single named source. Breathe people, and try to remember, ESPN loves them some click bait.

Considering LiAngelo was probably the black sheep of the 3 Ball brothers, this certainly won't help his case if he was caught stealing in China.

What would be the basis for expulsion?

Off campus conviction of theft in a foreign country where there's little to no due process?

Would a normal ucla student be expelled from school for a shoplifting conviction in the states?

Stupid on so many levels. As a brown-skinned guy who sometimes shops at high-end stores, I can feel the eyeballs of all the employees and security piercing through me. And that's here in the states. I can't even imagine how much I'd stand out in China, and I'm only 6ft. I don't care how great your sleight of hand is, a group of tall, foreign basketball players will draw attention. These places always keep their showcases full. Anything missing and it only takes a second to go back to the security cameras and find when it disappeared. You have to be beyond stupid to try this in the US let alone in China.

A normal student isn’t governed by the NCAA.

The stupidity of it is mind boggling.

I say give the 3 of them six months in the Chinese jail to mull it over.

So this would be the NCAA expelling these kids? Is there any precedent of the NCAA expelling kids?

What NCAA violation would this fall under anyways?

Did Jameis Winston get expelled?

The NCAA only determines eligibility in it's sporting events.

Expulsion would be up to the school, not the NCAA.

I'm guessing the school can pull the scholarships of these players. Without a free ride to college these kids won't be going to school, and they certainly won't be playing ball there.

I think the NCAA probably has similar rules regarding unacceptable conduct, and I'm sure committing crimes like grand theft would fall under that category, so I'm think UCLA expels them, and the NCAA blocks them from joining another program. UCLA definitely has the ability since colleges have expelled students for off campus behavior a multitude of times. The NCAA probably has ways to effectively achieve the same things through its bylaws. Given that this was a really important trip to the fastest growing market in the sport, I'm sure they would not want them representing the brand any longer.

Trump asks Chinese president to help in UCLA case

Quote:
President Donald Trump personally asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to help resolve the case involving three UCLA basketball players, including LiAngelo Ball, who were arrested on shoplifting charges in Hangzhou, The Washington Post reported Monday.
