This was a low scoring game. Even though we're a running team (or at least trying to be), and even though the NBA right now is obsessed with playing an up-tempo game (which is the way it should be), you still have to be able to win ugly games, especially on the road. We shot only 42%, and individually only Lopez and Clarkson played well. But we won by holding Phoenix under 39% shooting.

Winning low scoring games like this on the road will be great for this team's confidence. We're more comfortable with the scores in the 110s or 120s, but to be a good team you have to win when you're not playing well offensively.

I think the best thing was we didn’t let their best player beat us down the stretch. It seems like that is what happens to us all too often.

We won a game where we looked like crap. When was the last time that we won like that? That was encouraging.

Over/ Under for the game right before tip-off was 231. The final total was only 193, 38pts below. This shows that the Lakers can play rugged ball and still win, abeit against a lowly Phoenix team.

Good point. Keeping a top scorer from beating us without having one ourselves is pretty damn good. I cannot wait until we acquire an elite scorer again, though.

The best thing about the Lakers (6-8) winning at PHX was not losing ground in the standings to a peer of the moment.

The Laker club was 7-7 after fourteen games last season, so let's stay steely-eyed and composed about what our team is doing so far.

We did play very well... on the defensive side of the court and that got us the win!

So impressed with their hustle on D! Great win!

Same (although, I think we already have one in the making in BI), but it was awesome to see a player on another team try to go "Kobe" on us and fail. The foot on the 3pt line, fadeaway shot over a double team comes to mind (a play late in the game). The level of difficulty on Booker's shots was insane, and I knew he would not be able to sustain it and get the W over our unselfish style, which leads to easier shot attempts.

I agree OP I'm liking the defense. I think it's keeping us in a lot of games. Phoenix may be chopped liver but it's still a road win and we still played solid defense, keeping a high scoring offense down to 93 pts on 39% shooting.

Thank Luke for keeping Ball on the bench in the 4th, that alone save 3 or 4 clankers and 2 or 3 turnovers...

I have carped on Luke as much as an average LG Poster, but he has harped on the fact that if they defend they will be in games and it has proven to be true.

You are always in a game if you can play hard and defend even if you shoot poorly. This is much more sustainable than the trying to "outscore" teams mode for most teams, including ours.
