1. GS cleared cap to sign KD.
2. OKC added 2 players via trade who are ostensibly expiring deals.

So if you believe other teams can improve via trade/FA, why are you so down on Magic/Pelinka (but didn't raise the same red flags in 2014-16 for Jim/Mitch)?

I never once thought that Jim and Mitch would sign a top FA. As it is now, our roster isnít attractive enough. And if we keep dumping young players, it might never be. Face it, Mozgov and Deng were the best FAs we could attract. Creating cap space and making trades are exactly how other teams have and will add stars.

I can see a trade happening if this Westbrook-George-Melo experiment doesn't pan out until the trade deadline.

If they are around .500 by then, fighting for the #8 seed and 5 or 6 games behind homecourt advantage in the playoffs, it will be clear they have no shot to the title and no reason to keep PG13. I doubt Carmelo opts out and they won't go deep in luxury tax to keep a team that didn't get anything.

I can see a PG13-KCP trade happening, maybe with some 2nd round added. Two expiring deals, roughly the same amount ($2M difference), but they would pay much less to keep KCP (I doubt he gets offers on the $18M range) and they could get rid of Andre Roberson (almost $10M).

Considering they would lose George anyway, it's not a bad trade. From the Lakers side, I don't know if there's a financial advantage, but it would be much easier to sign the 2nd Max having the 1st already on board, and it would save us a lot the FA market stress.

Maybe we could only sign Deng and Mosgov, we sure didn't have to give them 4 years, so they would ruin our capspace.

And what are all these moves these teams are going to make to clear all this capspace? The Warriors aren't in the market. The Rockets have to get rid of Anderson and Gordon. No FA's is signing in OKC.

Name all these teams that will be in the market for all these FA's?

OKC wouldnít be re-signing KCP, if George leaves after the season they take the cap and tax savings. This is a least a one year experiment, it is doubtful they are looking at a half year experiment.

Actually we did, other teams offered them 3 years. Cap space wasnít a concern when we signed them, that became Magicís problem, he can re-learn the lesson that Mitch and Jim learned. Who will make those moves? Wait until the preseason to find out, most teams have their man committed before they make those types of moves.

Saying MozDeng is the best free agents we could have got is so closed minded. Off the top of my head D.Dedmon and James Johnson both turned out to be better players the past 2 years and they both were signed for the vets min.

VLF, just curious. You took a vow that if Mitch/Jim were removed, that you would join the equivalent "Clippersground." That obviously hasn't happened.

What's the wager if Magic actually succeeds (gasp) with getting 2 max players (i.e. LBJ/PG13/Boogie). What is it now?

I still can't figure out why Jerry West made Blake Griffin the face of the franchise. That was a head scratcher.

Another underrated selling point for free agents besides the beautiful weather, hollywood and celebrities, beaches and hot chicks is the beautiful state-of-the-art brand new training facility. Has anybody here has been able to see it yet? I have seen photographs and video and it's absolutely beautiful.

I only care about contending, not adding names to the roster. If it leads to contention then I will be happy. If it leads to some playoff visits without a visit to the Finals, it beats losing but that is about it. And if he fails to attract any FAs, what matters more is the alternate plan. With the way that they set up the FO, they have operated about as amateurish as one would expect an inexperienced FO to operate. But give them some time to learn what they are doing. Oh, and I watch many Clipper games but the alternate team I have been following is NO. Love the City, love the Saints, might as well get behind the Pelicans unless they are playing the Lakers.

Jerry West didnít do that, he is only a consultant. I guess you would prefer it to be DJ?

No, Black and gold podcasts, they talk Saints and Pelicans but I originally listened for the Saints talk.

Strange, albeit itís only been a month for me, thatís the most Iíve ever seen you type. You must be blushing.

However, you could spare us all the many words and write in your normal succinct fashion by simply saying, ďI will be wrong.Ē

Too difficult though, huh?

I guess so but I can always resort to ignoring that the CBA exists as I have read here the last month.

Here's the problem with your most recent stance Ventura, your track record is so poor in evaluating FA moves that you lack credibility. It was you who said "Good move by the FO, adding Deng was something I had hoped we would see.", following the signing of Luol Deng to a $72mil, four year contract on 7/7/16.
Later that same day you posted the following about the signing of Mozgov to a 4 year, $54mil contract, "glad we were able to fill a hole in our roster with a guy who is good at some of the offensive and defensive skills that Luke will ask from him. He should be a very good fit."
After your full throated endorsements of two of the most catastrophic moves in the team's history, one might think a bit of humility is in order.

A bigger head scratcher is why you think Deandre Jordan is a better fit as the face of their franchise.

Pretty impressive that you pulled those quotes out.

Agree ... One reason why I frequent Reddit over Lakersground nowadays is that there are less white knights over there ... (and that's despite me being a hardcore LG patron over past decade)
