My guess is suspended for a couple of games.
I agree....young people make mistakes....luckily this was a mistake that did not result in any permanent damage to anyone. Hold them accountable, but don't throw them away or try to cause long term damage to their lives.

In the meanttime the US has granted China automatic FAA certification of their indigenous airplanes (COMAC 919).
A horrible deal if the "Ballglary" was the other end of the deal. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

I also fully expect the children of the Chinese judge, police chief, DA, etc to be enrolled at UCLA tuition free in the near future. Meanwhile the average Joe here in SoCal can only dream of getting their kid into some of these universities.

I think for somebody to get kicked out of school they would basically have to commit academic fraud or have a terrible GPA that doesn't mean the school's standards. Usually public schools are more lenient compared to private or religious schools when it comes to non-academic crimes.
They basically admitted their guilt and thanked the university, Chinese police and government, President Trump and the US government for securing their release. Sounds like they are throwing themselves at the mercy of the university for whatever punishment they are given.
These guys are borderline NBA talent so they will probably have to do the 9-5 thing later on in life. That means there will probably be some hiring manager that will remember this incident years later, especially since this news is being plastered all over worldwide media.

All three guys really could've used the CBA option if they're looking to play ball after college.
They weren’t charged with anything, the NCAA penalty might be less.
they don't need to be charged with anything.. they were caught on camera stealing from 3 stores and they ONLY got off because they president happened to be in China at the same time and they had a huge advocate in the Alibaba guy Jack Ma.
the fact that the president stepped in says an awful lot.
athletically suspend for a full year is what it should be

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some behind the scenes dealing with BBB and Alibaba. If the BBB brand takes off, Jack Ma will probably call in some special favors in the future as payback since he helped Lavar Ball's son.
Jim Harrick was on 570am today and said he would have pushed for Redshirting all 3 for a year. At the very least I am hoping that the UCLA brass would go with that after reviewing the case.
VERY bad look for the players, team, program and school.
Absolutely idiotic act that turned into an international incident.

Those average Joe's kids should you know try hard in school like the overwhelming majority of people who got into those types of universities did. _________________ "It was tough," Kobe Bryant said. "But when it got really tough for me, I just checked myself in."

Maybe this was actually good for Gelo?
-Lavar wanted all three sons to be one and done.
-Gelo might not have been good enough with only one year. Force him to sit a year.
-Due to the stigma from this case his draft stock is at an all time low.
-Play another year, and do okay.
-Melo ball comes the year after, they both tear it up at UCLA while increacing their draft stock.

Heard john ireland on the radio and he agrees with you. And i agree with you both. This was a heck of a lot more than a misinderstanding.

College football players have gotten one-year suspensions for violent offenses, a year for some sunglasses seems over the top. Although UCLA dismissed Reeves Nelson (aka Sophaur One) for disciplinary reasons, but that was insubordination.

I think if it happened here, it might be different. But going over there, representing UCLA and the United States, the stakes are higher. And it wasn't just sunglasses, tjat's beside the point.
