The uncertainty is over. After three straight tanking seasons and nerve-wracking lottery ball lucky bounces, the Lakers officially have no picks of their own and no incentive to tank.

Draft Picks:

- As part of the ill-fated Steve Nash trade, the Lakers owe their 2018 1st round pick to the Celtics/Sixers: if the pick falls between #2-5, it belongs to the Celtics; if it ends up at #1 or #6-30, it will be the property of the Sixers. The main incentives here are to screw the Celtics from landing their big man of the future and to give the Sixers a late-lottery pick after three years of mean juju coming from the City of Brotherly Love.

- As part of the even more disastrous Dwight Howard trade, the Lakers owe their 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando. Orlando actually included that pick as part of a swap in the Ibaka for Ross deal last season, which Toronto then traded to the Nets to offload DeMarre Carroll. The Nets will get the less favorable of the Orlando or Lakers 2018 2nd rounder, while the more favorable will remain with Orlando.

- Currently the Lakers own Denver's 2nd round pick via Chicago as part of the 2016 Calderon salary dump.

- Unlike last season, the Lakers likely lack a trade piece who they'd both be willing to part with and would net them a 1st round pick. They may be able to add additional 2nd round picks for Randle, Clarkson, or others. - Whoops!

Draft Resources:

Unfortunately the talented folks at DraftExpress sold out to ESPN, which means no more free updated DX mocks and possibly no more invaluable strengths/weaknesses videos. They have left up the website DraftExpress.com as a database. (Pro tip: check out r/nba draft for the occasional nugget).

TheStepien.com has stepped in (heh) to try and fill DX's shoes as the best free source of draft info and analysis on the webs. Cole Zwicker, Marc Whittington, and Ben Rubin team up to provide draft tiers and lengthy treatises on Luka Doncic's handles that would make Proust blush in the candle light of his corkboard encased suite.

Tankathon.com - the Lakers are no longer tanking, but this site keeps daily updates of each team's pick status and has a solid mock each year.

Nbadraft.net - the venerable standby, some people love it despite their website still being hosted on GeoCities.

Dean on Draft is where draft aficionado Dean Damakis pontificates occasionally on outliers. Most well known for making bold predictions and loving Nikola Jokic before it was cool, Damakis' breakdowns are often worth the wait.

Cody Wright's scouting videos

Scouting videos - for those going through DX withdrawals, this amateur scout puts together very thorough scouting vids of top prospects.

UPDATE: Lakers acquire Cleveland Cavaliers 2018 1st round pick (top-3 protected) as part of a deal for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance, Jr.

Watching Duke v. MSU, Grayson Allen is so going to end up a Celtic somehow.

Zone defenses are still horrible to watch.

Jaren Jackson is going to be a better pro than Miles Bridges.

I looked at NBAdraft.net and saw Bonzie Colson at #60. I would take him in a heartbeat.

If he lasts that far, he'd be a great add as a backup CG.

we will see where he is on the big boards....might be able to grab him as an undrafted....especially if they play like they did last week.

Hell yes to Vick.....I didn't get Jackson...so I get Vick.

They could always end up buying another 2nd rounder or trading someone else for a 1st rounder. Who knows. It's a good resource to read about the upcoming class, whether or not LA picks someone or not. UNLOCKED.

We need a play making guard. Maybe Holiday from UCLA?

Regardless of what we need, I expect the Lakers to draft BPA and hopefully buy another pick GS style. They have been able to require 2 future rotation players simply by buying 2nd round picks the last 2 years (McCaw and Jordan Bell)

JC
ZU
Nance
A.Brown
Kuzma
J.Hart
T.Bryant

Some impressive picks drafting late

have to see how he plays this season, but personally I am not big on small guards. I think he has decent length for being short, which helps.

Really going to miss DraftExpress as a "free" site. That was my go-to for nearly a decade. Always had the good stuff re: early college tournament scouting, NCAA tournament sleeper players, draft combine measurements, etc.
