Bryant looks faster than he was preseason here. His jumps are also on point here too.

Dude looked like he lost some weight and it helped with short range nimbleness, conditioning, and bounce.

Good signs.

Zu in trouble. Conditioning, full court speed, 3pt. range alone.

Why not starting center in a couple of years?
I'm really liking the FO's draft picks this year.

Thomas on PnR defense isn't really much different than Brook Lopez.

Difference? WAY more motor.

Really? I've seen Lopez move his feet surprisingly quickly. Bryant (still feels weird to call him that) was downright statuesque.

But you guys are saying he looks quicker now, so I should reserve judgment.

Just watched the highlights. Still can't get over how he's a good rim runner /straight line speed, but is literally the slowest lateral mover I've ever seen, bar none. I could be convinced he's a better prospect than Zu.. maybe he can improve to Zu's lateral mobility in a couple years and only be a "D" grade there instead of F-. At that point, he's a pretty damn good reserve. Can run, stretch, roll, finish

And he's young. He's 20 or something.. hope we don't give up on him in the next few years. Slow burn!

Andrew Bogut is out tonight with back tightness. Thomas Bryant will be available, as the Lakers have recalled him from @SouthBayLakers.

The range of motion in his legs looks almost normal. Every time he ran in college, it looked like his knees were locked.

I'm a fan of Zubac, but he's looking expendable now; especially in a package to get rid of Deng.

Oh damn.

He probably won't play except garbage time but I hope to see him on the court anyway. He really did look faster compared to Early preseason.

He blocks, runs the lanes, shoots 3's, and has terrible dance moves. What's not to like?

Slower than Roy Hibbert or the original #31, Mel Counts? Slower than Manute Bol?

If he's lacking in lateral quickness, he's lucky that he'll get to work with Metta, who did not have explosive quickness, but whose anticipation and positioning was off the charts good, stuff that can be taught.

Really impressed with his start.
That 3 ball stroke looks good.
Does he look fitter to anyone else?

That's a joke right? Bogut doesn't even have 1 step of lateral left.

Luke Walton Appreciates Thomas Bryant’s Love For Basketball During His Development

Quote:
Thomas even asked head coach Luke Walton to stay down in the G-League to keep developing as opposed to riding the bench with the Lakers. This mindset really stood out to Walton as he shared following practice on Tuesday.

I think they're the same there. Wish it wasn't so because I absolutely love his skillset and energy otherwise.. I would stamp him as having easy starter potential without that issue

What I look at to see if there's improvement is his chop steps or small steps -- you could always even see him struggling on his first couple steps starting his jogs up the court - his lower body and back just are 100% stiff and flexed with no flexion or drive, very tiny stiff steps, like he's running on stilts with small steps, tight hips.
But looking at the above vid, he looks more athletic on those steps now, there's some hop and flexion and agility on those first steps up the court. So that's a good sign. But you have to realize, he's starting at the bottom of the bottom in terms of that & lateral quickness - so even though I think I see some improvement , I still expect him to be Bogut level laterally, I think Bryant was actually worse - like Dirk right now - just so stiff, can't bend and slide at same time, can't open up the stance and take large slides in a direction, very small choppy slides, and steps to begin his runs up the court

Yes, a sarcastic joke. The Bryant we saw in preseason wasn’t exactly quick but not old man Bogut slow.
