The defense by Bogut and Randle in the 2nd turned the game around.

He's surprisingly shooting 58% from the field. Is he shooting any jumpers at all this year?

Edit: Just checked, and it seems that he's shooting about 70% of all his shots right at the rim. The other 30ish% are from about 10-12 feet out, of which he's shooting 25%. I guess he's employing the Lonzo UCLA strategy, minus the three's.

Pretty much, the Bogut and Julius front court actually worked for once. Wish Luke hadn't yanked Lopez out before it though. Want to see Randle with Lopez!!

But it also worked because for once Bogut didn't look like a shell of himself, he looked energized and engaged and more explosive than before.

The defense of him and Randle really worked together.

One of the reasons it works as well is because of Randle's ability to defend on the perimeter, he(Bogut) doesn't have to step out to help on defense and he can hang at the basket and rim protect. Essentially why he was able to do it as well with Draymond defending on the perimeter in Golden State.

Lopez is the same way defensively tbh, if he has a forward out there who can defend on the perimeter to where he doesn't have to step out and help them, then he can be at the basket and get the shot at the rim while the other guy just has to help the helper. Which is the best defensive setup.

But when Lopez or Bogut has to step out to help someone on the perimeter defensively it's bad news.

Fortunately, he doesn't have to do that with Randle's ability to switch and defend on the perimeter.

That's only surprising because there's a narrative about Julius that persists regardless of how he actually plays.

You had people in here saying Julius played poorly in Milwaukee despite all evidence to the contrary because they cherry picked a couple bad turnovers.

Right now you have people griping about him not passing out of double and triple teams, but completely ignoring that the vast majority of the time his teammates aren't in a position to receive a pass from him.

Read my whole post. The narrative is that he can't shoot jumpers, and that narrative is still true. He hardly takes any jumpers anymore, and shoots about 25% from there.

Randle is a dog. A mean one. I don't care. We need to keep him. Is he perfect, no. But the fire in him is there. We need that.

Embiid does that to everyone though. He's done it to every Lakers big and before that he did it to DeAndre Jordan.

No. Embiid had a career high all across the board tonight.

Embiid has a legit foot on Randle, I don’t know what Puke Walton was thinking. Should have put in Bogut.

Seriously though, not much anyone can do. Embiid is on a different planet.

Randle was not guarding Embiid the entire night. Every Laker big took turns getting worked over by him.

Or doubled him. Their shooters were ice cold.

Actually the correct response is yes.

He was scoring on Night too. Embiid can't be guarded one on one.

Embiid scores on Bogut and on Lopez. What was Luke to do.

Lol @ people putting it on Julius that he couldn’t guard Embiid. The guy has about 6 inches and 30 pounds on Julius — that’s not a good matchup, and Luke should have realized it after about 3 minutes.

Bogut or Lopez should have been in to guard Embiid, end of story.
