9-11 was an inside job, nobody’s ever been to the moon, MLK was killed by the FBI (actually proven in court), and LBJ has already decided to come to La La Land.

Who else would Magic be discussing other than LBJ?
We're not getting Simmons or Wall, and we aren't negotiating a max for KCP.
(at least I pray we aren't)
There's no one else we'd want on his roster. |

Notice the seats we gave him too? Don't think we made him pay for those. We gave him any seat he wanted, unlike Pat Riley. |

Sixers have zero need for LBJ. |
I think they want Klay in 2019. Don't need LBJ, redundant with Simmons (sounds stupid but true), Demarcus doesn't fit with Embiid. Paul George would be interesting, but frankly an elite 3 and d guy would fit them perfectly. _________________ 17 time World Champions |

I don't think they have the cap space to do so as they have to start signing guys and Embiid's max deal kicks in.
But on paper that's a scary lineup. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

There is a huge buzz about LeBron planning to come to the Lakers, with lots of evidence--his moving his family to L.A., his involvement in the film industry in L.A., his tweets about L.A. being his home, his birthday greetings to Magic (which he never did before Magic became Lakers president), the natural desire to play for one of the greatest franchises in US sports history with a worldwide fan base, the desire to play for an African-American president and sports/business legend of Magic Johnson, the desire to play with the most exciting passing guard to enter the league in many years (Lonzo), his going to watch Lonzo during a summer league game, the presence of a number of young players who are potential stars (Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma), the Lakers' likelihood of landing Paul George next year, who has pretty much informed the entire league he intends to come to the Lakers, the ill will between LeBron and the Cleveland ownership, etc., etc., etc.
None of this guarantees that he will come to the Lakers next year, but put together it sure makes it an increasingly likely possibility. So instead, what do we hear on this board, which is supposedly the premier Lakers fan board?
(1) That he is likely staying in Cleveland (which nobody else believes);
(2) He is probably going to go to the Clippers (which remains to this day a team that is so hated in Los Angeles that it's main former star, Chris Paul, was actively booed when he showed up at Dodgers games and is a team whose future is not brighter than that of a Lakers team with George, Ingram and Ball);
(3) That he is going to the Spurs (where he probably would have no better chance of beating the Warriors than he would have with the Lakers, and which still leaves him far away from his new home in Los Angeles).
This is a person who plans ahead and fulfills expectations. He went to form a super team in Miami and won a couple of rings. He came back to Cleveland and won a ring there. He is now laying the groundwork to come to the Lakers. Why are people here fighting the idea that the league's best player will come to the Lakers (and instead go to the Clippers??, or stay in Cleveland or San Antonio???) |
I've asked myself this same question over and over again, the reality is that Laker fans historically are used to winning championships, they know through experience that winning them requires having multiple superstars and until they actually sign contracts, the cynical side of Laker fans will give pessimistic feedback because of recent impotence of signing free agents _________________ Hambuger! We signed Nash, Howard and Gasol as FAs? And Malone and Payton were stars? Their career s were over. Not much there that is accurate. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Probably bc we had transcendent ones already in Kobe/Shaq then traded for Odom/Pau. Did you think we would get max deals (we didn’t have the cap space until what 2015?) without cap space and with 2-3 all stars on our teams? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

It's hard to complain about not signing Superstar FAs when we had 2 of the arguably best players on the league during a stretch in Kobe and Shaq and one of the best players in the world taking up a large part of the cap during the other years.
I'd understand complaining about the last 4 years, but can't complain about FA signings prior imo |

It's not due to recent impotence, it's due to the fact that in the past 30 yrs, they've only nabbed one true super star, Shaq, in free agency. The "recent impotence" is a narrative driven by those who wanted to crap on Mitch and Jim. When in fact that has never been our way. They were in uncharted waters. Our way has always been developing our high picks like Magic, Worthy, the trade for 4th pick Scott, trade for 13th pick Kobe. We groomed these rookies from scratch. We were lucky Magic and Worthy hit the floor running and didn't need grooming. Maginka is simply continuing the unchartered waters Mitch and Jim were on and they think they'll have a different outcome. KCP was a little nibble, not a super star, and not a long term plan. Lets see if they can get the big fish this summer. |

yeah, odd list. two of them we LOST in free agency. neither in their primes but both were all-star/all-nba the season after. |

With Lakers in town, LeBron James declined to address the media after Cavs shootaround. This is very rare for James. He almost never skips post-shootaround duty. |
